find me a union-friendly desert film location near LA that allows pyro and has a runway,

For a union feature, commercial, or TV production, the combination of desert terrain + runway + pyro capability + proximity to Los Angeles narrows the field considerably.

Top Choice
Fiix Ranch Movie Ranch
About 75 minutes from Los Angeles.
81-acre Mojave desert location.
Private 3,200-foot dirt runway suitable for aircraft, vehicle work, and aviation-themed shoots.
Explicitly allows pyro, stunts, drones, and animals when proper permits and safety personnel are provided.
Large open areas for basecamp, parking, picture cars, and action sequences.
Works well with IATSE, Teamsters, SAG-AFTRA, and DGA productions because access and logistics are straightforward.
