Stop Asking "Is It Allowed?" Start Asking "Is It Wise?"

Am I allowed to do this? is the most common question believers ask when dealing with cultural gray areas in our world that seems to have answers for everything. But when scripture doesn't give a simple "yes" or "no" rule, Paul redirects our focus:

True Christian freedom isn't guided by self-indulgence—it's guided by wisdom, love, and witness.

Just because something is permissible doesn't mean it's beneficial. When we use our personal liberties without considering others, we risk becoming a stumbling block to the very people Jesus called us to reach. Living "unchained" means having the strength to voluntarily lay down our rights for the sake of someone else’s spiritual growth.

This Week’s Reflection Challenge: Is there a personal freedom or habit you enjoy that might be causing someone else in your life to stumble?

Take Action: Identify one area of personal liberty this week and choose to yield it out of love and consideration for someone else in your circle.

In our FRACTURED series, we’re tackling the hard topics: moral integrity, internal disputes, and what it truly means to live out Christian ethics without falling into "cheap grace."

Biblical grace isn't an excuse to ignore sin; it's the very power that frees us from it. And when we stumble, we don't run to secular courts or drown out Gods direction by going to social media or our vices. Instead, we lean into loving, family-like accountability within the body of Christ.

We live in a world that thrives on outrage, outrage thrives on cliques, and cliques tear communities apart. But church conflict isn’t a modern problem—the ancient church in Corinth was divided into factions, arguing over preferences, personalities, and pride.

Paul’s response to Corinth is a wake-up call for us today: Christ is not divided, and neither should His church be.

Bitterness is a quiet poison—we swallow it hoping it hurts someone else, but it only destroys us from the inside out.

Wrapping up our series, we look at the story of Herodias—a woman whose long-held grudge eventually defiled her entire family and led to a tragic ex*****on. Bitter resentment rarely stays contained; if left unchecked, it quietly poisons our character and ruins our closest relationships.

How do you spot the early roots of resentment before they take hold, and how do you find the supernatural freedom that comes from releasing your offenses to God?

Reflection Question: Is there a past offense or correction you are holding onto that is slowly poisoning your heart?

Next Step Application: Write down the name of someone you are harboring bitterness toward this week. Spend time sincerely praying a blessing over their life, family, and future, releasing that grudge to God once and for all.
