Novelist, essayist and playwright James Baldwin was an eloquent and passionate writer ✍️ and civil rights activist.

Baldwin's first novel "Go Tell It on the Mountain", published when he was just 19, was chosen as one of Time magazine's Top 100 All-Time Novels. Themes of race, masculinity, class, and sexuality are integral to many of his essays, short stories and novels.

This month we dedicate a display to Baldwin, a writer, speaker, and icon who was not only charismatic but was also thought provoking.

Then, please join us on February 11th as we screen "I Am Not Your Negro", an Oscar nominated film 🎞, which envisions the book📖 James Baldwin never finished that examines race in America then and now.
