With the poor air quality not expected to improve until this weekend, here are some ways you can protect yourself. Poor air quality can be harmful especially to those with heart and lung conditions, and elderly adults. Be sure to stay inside when possible. If you do go outside, consider wearing a mask that filters out small particles like a N95 or KN95 mask. Also linked below is a list of Wayne County cooling centers that are open to those who need shelter.

Regretfully, I have decided to cancel tomorrow's coffee hour due to the poor weather conditions and air quality. Please ensure that you are taking care of yourself and stay inside when possible. My next coffee hour will be at the same location and time on Friday, August 14th.

That's $30 by 2030. That's what UAW Local 2093 members demanded. And that's what they're going to get.

UAW Local 2093 members have always known their own power at American Axle. They recognized that it was their sacrifices 18 years ago that kept this plant alive in Three Rivers, MI, after the Great Recession. And they flexed that power on STRIKE -- to win their fair share of all the success this company's seen in recent years.

Congratulations to these brave men and women for lifting up their entire community with this victory!

Today, the Michigan House took an important step forward by advancing House Bills 5510 and 5511.

At the heart of this legislation is a simple but important idea: when parents are making an effort to support their children, our Justice system should support that progress—not interrupt it.

These bills give courts the ability to delay sentencing in certain cases involving child support, allowing judges to recognize when a parent is working, making payments, and trying to get back on track. Instead of immediately imposing penalties that could take a parent out of the workforce, this approach keeps them in a position to continue providing for their child.
That matters, because when a parent is able to work, children benefit, and families are more stable, support payments become more consistent, and parents have a real opportunity to meet their obligations.

This package is about building a system that actually works for families by giving judges the flexibility to consider real-life circumstances and by prioritizing solutions that keep parents engaged and children supported.

Thank you Representative St. Germaine for your partnership on this package. I’m proud to see these bills move out of the House, and I look forward to continuing this work as they head to the Senate.
