Capitol Quarter Midgets

Racing for kids ages 5-16. Admission is always free to watch the races. Family oriented sport. What is quarter midget racing? are covered by National safety rules.

A Quarter Midget car is a scaled-down version of an actual midget race car by approximately 1/4 scale, thus the name. Quarter Midget racing is a family oriented sport that involves racing in specially prepared cars. The cars, rules and safety procedures are designed specifically for kids. They race on oval dirt and asphalt tracks approximately 1/20 of a mile. All cars and driver’s equipment must conform to all national safety rules from USAC. Full roll cages, racing clothing, helmets, gloves, neck braces, safety belts, arm restraints, mechanical components, etc. Quarter Midget Racing is a competitive sport for children between the ages of 5 – 16. However, the entire family is involved in putting on the race day activities. The race events are put on by the membership within the club. All positions are voluntary. Flagging, corner workers, race scorers, pit stewarding, and even the concession stand are all run by the membership.

CQMA drivers participated in the this evening in support of Case Higgins, a young Jr Sprint driver who was involved in a serious accident.

It is important for every racer to practice exiting their car quickly in case of an emergency!

***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***

If you’re planning on racing Saturday night at CQMA we are moving the start time back to 7PM. We have some drivers that would like a race under the lights and a possibility of families coming from day races at other tracks that we’re trying to accommodate. Thank you for understanding and hope to see you there!
