The first pour of the Grand River Edges Trail happened this week! And it’s more than a pour; it’s a step toward connecting West Michigan in a whole new way.

This project closes a gap in the regional non-motorized trail network, creating a connection from Downtown Grand Rapids to Riverside Park and the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park. The vision extends well beyond this segment. The future Grand River Greenway is planned to stretch 85 miles from Lowell to Lake Michigan, with expansion targeting a 2031 completion.

WIELAND took to the sky with a drone to capture this milestone from above. We’ll keep sharing the progress as this transformational project takes shape.

Last night, WIELAND was excited to connect with students from Michigan State University and Ferris State University construction management programs. Students from both programs gathered at local restaurants for a low-key introduction to WIELAND, our team, and the projects we build.

The night was filled with conversations about the many pathways available in the construction industry and the opportunities to grow within WIELAND. It was an awesome night celebrating the students in both of these programs and showing them how an internship at WIELAND can help shape their future in construction.

The WIELAND team was proud to attend the 15th annual "An Evening for Healers Gala" in support of the LSU Health Sciences Foundation.

It was a great evening celebrating the incredible healthcare professionals who make such a meaningful impact on our community every day. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support LSU Health Shreveport and the important work being done to advance healthcare across the Ark-La-Tex.

Today, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the first responders and recovery workers who gave everything, as well as the ironworkers, engineers, crane operators, and laborers who answered the call at Ground Zero.

They stepped into the dust, cleared the wreckage, and showed the resilience, strength, and compassion of the construction community. Today, we take our hard hats off to remember those we lost and honor everyone who stepped forward to help.

Water Street Lofts is taking shape on the site of the former World Star Knitting Mill, an industrial powerhouse that helped shape the future of Bay City. Now, WIELAND and MDL Companies are helping bring new life to the historic site with a multi-family development that is pushing housing in Bay City to new limits.

Located immediately off the Saginaw River, Water Street Lofts is local living done right. With more than 91,000 SF of wood-framed apartment space, each of the 90 units will have direct access to the walkable heart of Bay City, including the shops and restaurants along Water Street. The building’s ground floor will also feature commercial space, creating opportunities to attract new businesses to the region. When completed next spring, WIELAND and MDL will have helped transform a piece of Bay City’s industrial past into a development built for its future!
