Alpine Senior Apartments is officially underway, bringing 52 new affordable homes for adults 55+ to the West Grand neighborhood.

A special thank you to Rep. Hillary Scholten for joining us to celebrate this important milestone and for her support of the Housing Credit, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act and other bipartisan efforts to address the housing crisis and expand access to safe, stable, and affordable homes.

The $16 million development is designed to help older adults live independently and stay connected to the community they call home, with one- and two-bedroom apartments, a fitness center, community space and green building features that will help keep utility costs down.

Cinnaire is proud to celebrate alongside Volker Development Inc., Little River Holdings, LLC, Equity First Community Development LLC, and the many partners helping bring Alpine Senior Apartments to life. We can’t wait to see this new community take shape!

Christopher Laurent, President of Cinnaire Solutions, has announced his retirement from Cinnaire on September 15. Chris joined Cinnaire nearly 12 years ago and has led Cinnaire Solutions through a period of significant growth. Under his leadership, Cinnaire Solutions has helped create and preserve housing and strengthen communities across our footprint.

Cinnaire Solutions' mission remains the same: to serve as a catalyst for transformation in communities, bringing the expertise, resources and access to capital needed to take projects from intention to reality. Our team remains committed to our active pipeline, closings and partnerships through this transition.

For seniors in Detroit's Grandmont Rosedale neighborhood, Minock Park Place offers an affordable housing option that makes it possible to stay connected to the community, businesses, and relationships they know and value. The new development features 42 affordable senior apartments along with commercial space that will bring additional amenities to the neighborhood.

Developed by Cinnaire Solutions in partnership with the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation, Minock Park Place is part of broader efforts to strengthen Grandmont Rosedale through affordable housing, commercial corridor investment and resident-centered neighborhood revitalization.

Cinnaire's Andrea Johnson, Omar Whitfield, and Justin Kremers graduated from the Emerging Leaders Program, an experience designed to develop the next generation of leaders in our industry. Throughout the program, they gained new insights into their leadership strengths, broadened their perspectives, challenged and supported one another, and built meaningful relationships that will continue well beyond the program.

The celebration became even more special when Justin was named an Emerging Leader of the Year alongside Alicia Peel from VCDC. Selected by their fellow participants, the award recognizes the impact they had on their peers throughout the program.

A shoutout to Southern Michigan Bank & Trust for partnering with Cinnaire and the Michigan Bankers Association Service Corporation (MBASC) to invest in the 2026 Community Fund, a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) equity fund focused on expanding access to affordable housing.

This partnership helps bring transformative projects like Riverbend at Capital in Battle Creek to life, transforming a vacant Kmart site into 80 units of affordable and workforce housing and a multipurpose community center that will expand access to early childhood learning and vital community services.

On Wednesday, Cinnaire joined our partner Homes For America in Baltimore to welcome staff members from the Maryland Congressional delegation for a tour of Clare Court, a highly impactful project that combines affordable housing preservation and new construction to help meet the urgent need for affordable housing in Baltimore. After initially renovating an underutilized convent building in 2004, the new phase of Clare Court brings 53 new affordable homes by adding 12 new units to the convent building and 41 new units in a new three-story building that will welcome new residents at the beginning of September.

In a special moment, Sister Patricia Nightingale, a resident of the Convent building and one of the two remaining Sisters from the Sisters of Francis of Assisi that live at Clare Court, shared the history of the building, their work to support Baltimore residents, and their pride in ensuring that the Sisters’ legacy of service will live on at Clare Court.

Clare Court represents what can happen when mission-driven partners work together and leverage critically needed federal resources, including the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, Project-Based Rental Assistance, and the Capital Magnet Fund. We also discussed the recently enacted 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. We are grateful to representatives from the offices of Senator Van Hollen, Senator Alsobrooks, and Congressman Kweisi Mfume for joining us to learn about the project and help us expand our impact.
