I have been a resident of the 76th District for 45 years and current small business owner after a 22-year career in healthcare. I am a graduate of Waverly Community Schools and magna cm laude graduate of Northwood University. A long-time community leader, I have served on the Waverly Board of Education for five years and on the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation, Michigan Society of Healthcare Planners and Marketers Board of Directors, St. Gerard Church Evangelization Committee, Lansing Regional Chamber Economic Club and Volunteers of America Host Committee for Homeless No More. This week I participated on a panel discussion with Jennifer Conlin For State Representative and Brad Paquette - State Representative. We were invited to talk about our spark to get involved and our thoughts on various legislative topics by Michigan Center for Civic Education -Constitution Day.
These students have a great interest in getting involved in government. If you ever have the opportunity to listen to a young person and our future leaders, I encourage you to do it. It continues to interest me every day and learn about their policy topics of interest.
Great news for Eaton County residents and businesses! Property owners burdened with the costs of the Bank Intercounty Drain project will receive relief in the next few months from a $2.5 million grant that I secured through the Michigan Department of Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). You will either be mailed a partial refund if you've already paid in full, or you'll see less due on your winter tax bill.
This funding is part of $9.5 million total I've worked hard to bring home to relieve our community of the costs of this project — and I'm still working to put even more back in your pocket.

M-50, M-79 improvements in Charlotte begin Sept. 14
LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin resurfacing M-50 (Cochran Avenue) from M-50/I-69 Business Route (BR) to Beech Highway and M-79/I-69 Business Loop (BL) (Lawrence Street/Lansing Street) from Bostwick Street to Gale Street in Charlotte beginning Monday, Sept. 14. Work will include installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks.

On Labor Day, and every day, the hardworking people of Michigan deserve to be celebrated, supported and championed.
We recently celebrated the pushing-in ceremony for the new fire truck at the Olivet Fire Department. I was proud to help secure $1 million last term as the former Chair of the House Appropriations Committee for the new fire truck, alongside Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Sarah Anthony. Our brave firefighters put their lives on the line time and time again to keep our community safe. I will continue doing everything in my power to make sure they have every support they need.

We are currently accepting applications for students in grades 9-12 in Eaton County who are interested in learning more about and actively engaging in our state government.
