Today begins National Migration Week, which the Catholic Church in the U.S. has been celebrating for 45 years. How come? From the U.S. bishops:

Tomorrow is the first in a series of faithful citizenship presentations taking place at parishes across the state ahead of the November election.

Join us in Royal Oak at the The National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica to ask questions and learn practical tips about forming a Catholic conscience, evaluating candidates and the issues, and how to prayerfully prepare for elections and vote as Catholics.

On this National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, let us pray for those victims of abortion - the children and their mothers - and for an end to abortion in our country and world.

God of peace and mercy, on this anniversary for September 11, we lift up the souls who perished on that day. Welcome them with loving arms into Your kingdom. Comfort their families and friends.

May we look to the first responders that day to inspire us to live bravely and courageously, and to selflessly protect others in need.

Having seen the face of evil and darkness, may we be steadfast and faithful in pursuing You, our perpetual Light.
