During Hispanic Heritage Month we have our Annual Latino Health Fair once again this Sunday, September 27th from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the San Martin Hall. This is the big hall in Southeast (Rosedale Rd) side of the building with the gym.
This event is sponsored by the Lansing Latino Health Alliance (LLHA) in collaboration with Cristo Rey Church. The health fair will feature health checks and vaccinations by the Ingham County Health Department Mobile Clinic. There will also be 10 community service organizations participating to provide information on services available in our tri-county area.
Come to get your vaccinations, flu shots, and check on your heart/BP while availing yourself to community resources. See you Sunday! 🩺❤️‍🩹💊💉⚕️😷

Durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, volvemos a celebrar nuestra Feria Anual de Salud Latina este domingo 27 de septiembre, de 10:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m., en el Salón San Martín, que es el salón grande ubicado en el lado sureste del edificio, junto al gimnasio.
Este evento está patrocinado por la Alianza Latina para la Salud de Lansing (LLHA) en colaboración con la Iglesia Cristo Rey. La feria de salud contará con chequeos médicos y vacunas a cargo de la Clínica Móvil del Departamento de Salud del Condado de Ingham. También participarán 10 organizaciones de servicio comunitario para brindar información sobre los servicios disponibles en nuestra zona de los tres condados.
Ven a recibir tus vacunas, la vacuna contra la gripe y a checarte el corazón y la presión arterial, mientras aprovechas los recursos comunitarios. ¡Nos vemos el domingo!

The last two days we as Catholics have acknowledged some paradoxical truths. That the greatest tragedy in the death of God's Son through an oppressive instrument of torture can bring about a new horizon for humanity. Through the saving death and glorious resurrection of Jesus humanity can find a reason for hope in the greatest suffering. ✝️🛐🕯️
Also that the Mother of God is not immune to great pain and suffering that we experience at loving human beings when we lose those we care about. Jesus is right there with us in that pain. Mary is right there by his side at the Cross and the community of beloved disciples can accompany us through this grief.
This Thursday we have our second session of "Grieving with Great Hope" in the conference Room upstairs. If you've lost someone and want a place to process, pray, and share this will be a space for you. You are not alone in your grief.😢✝️🛐

En los últimos dos días, nosotros, como católicos, hemos reconocido algunas verdades paradójicas. Que la mayor tragedia —la muerte del Hijo de Dios a manos de un instrumento opresivo de tortura— puede abrir un nuevo horizonte para la humanidad. A través de la muerte salvadora y la gloriosa resurrección de Jesús, la humanidad puede encontrar un motivo de esperanza incluso en el mayor sufrimiento. ✝️🛐🕯️
También que la Madre de Dios no es inmune al gran dolor y sufrimiento que experimentamos los seres humanos cuando perdemos a quienes amamos. Jesús está ahí mismo con nosotros en ese dolor. María está ahí mismo a su lado en la Cruz, y la comunidad de discípulos amados puede acompañarnos en este duelo.
Este jueves tenemos nuestra segunda sesión de «Luto con gran esperanza» en la sala de conferencias de arriba. Si has perdido a alguien y buscas un lugar para procesar tu dolor, orar y compartir, este será un espacio para ti. No estás solo en tu duelo.😢✝️🛐

Good morning everyone. Tomorrow we officially begin another Catechetical year here at Cristo Rey!
We have orientation starting at 10:15 AM in San Martin Hall for our adult faith formation, catechism and sacramental prep for kids, and our youth group for teens.

Tendremos una sesión de orientación a partir de las 10:15 a. m. en el salón San Martín para nuestra formación en la fe para adultos, el catecismo y la preparación sacramental para niños, así como para nuestro grupo juvenil para adolescentes. Ven a conocer más detalles y a participar en las actividades del año que viene. Habrá oportunidades para inscribir a tus hijos si aún no lo has hecho. Esta noche y mañana por la noche son las últimas noches de la novena antes de celebrarla el domingo en la misa de las 9 a. m. Después de la misa tendremos una procesión y compartiremos una comida con platillos cubanos (además de otras delicias :).

Good evening everyone. As we approach this Labor Day weekend we continue the Novena to Our Lady of Charity del Cobre.
Tonight and tomorrow night are the last nights of the Novena before we celebrate her on Sunday at the 9 AM Mass. After the Mass we will have a procession and will share a meal of some Cuban food (along with other goodies:).
Come to pray and learn. Stay for food and fun. It's the Cristo Rey way.🙂

We had a good finish to August these last couple of weeks. We honored Our Lady of Urkupiña on August 15th (Solemnity of the Assumption). On August 16th we began OCIA classes for those adults (and their families) preparing to receive sacraments at Easter Vigil 2027.
There were some enriching trips for our Altar Society and Altar Servers to different parts of Michigan. We welcome three children to become children of God and members of our Church through the baptismal waters this weekend. Lastly we honored a faithful servant leader in Lupe Castillo as she steps back from leading ministries to get husband and family time. Thanks so much Lupe for your 33+ years of dedication and commitment to our youth, our Church, and to feeding the hungry of our community. May God bless you and keep you healthy in the years ahead.😊🙏🏼

Good morning everyone. Yesterday we began the Novena to Our Lady of Urkupiña and we continue that devotion today. You are welcome to come to Eucharistic Adoration between 1 PM and 5 PM or at 7 PM for the second day of the Novena. Lets come together to honor the Mother of God and spend time with her Son, Jesus today. ​🙏🏼⛪🕯️

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to cancel our Annual Church Picnic, which was scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. 😔
It wasn’t an easy decision, but we want to keep our seniors and children safe. 😷
We hope to organize a summer social sometime in the coming month. Stay tuned for updates on our page or website.
Inside the church, the air conditioning is working, and we’ll be ready for our two Masses tomorrow morning. We hope to see you there!⛪✝️🙏🏼

Good evening everyone! I hope you had a fun and safe celebration of 250 years of Independence for the USA this weekend. Our office will be closed Monday (7/6) in honor of this but we open back up tomorrow. 🇺🇸🎇🎆
Last week we had a great time hosting the Summer Youth Program with solid Catholic teaching, opportunities for prayer, and great fun for our kids and teens in Totus Tuus. This program was run by a fun and faithful team of young adult missionaries in Nancy Lee, Hosanna, Jeremy, and An. They were great witnesses in teaching the Luminous Mysteries and Ten Commandments with our kids and dedicating their summer to a great witness of the Catholic faith throughout the Diocese of Lansing. Thanks to Corinne Kendall and JoAnn Villarreal for their servant leadership and the team of volunteers from local parishes (IHM, St Peters, and St. Andrew Dung Lac) who helped in donating time and food. Our kids learned a lot and had a lot of fun despite the heat. 😆☺️🥵​
We look forward to another great group of missionaries to come in the summer of 2027 for another round of Totus Tuus. 🤔✝️⛪📿😇🍨

After celebrating our Senior Citizens last Wednesday we celebrated our high School and College Graduates this past Sunday with an acknowledgement and a blessing at the Noon Mass. Congrats to those who have graduated and are moving on to the next stage of our life. May God guide you and bless you as you move forward into young adulthood. Know you always have a place here at Cristo Rey. 🙂🤝🤲🙌
Thanks to our Altar Society for preparing a wonderful luncheon and to our Silent Auction Committee for providing these scholarships to the winning candidates for the 3rd straight year. Of the ten candidates who applied the Selection Committee of educators chose 4 individuals to be the ones to receive scholarships in the next year towards their college education. Keep working hard and know you have a community of faith to support you!

Good afternoon everyone. We had a great close to the Seniors program yesterday with a nice Mass and picnic at Frances Park as we traditionally have at the end of the year. Thanks to all our dedicated volunteers for creating this spiritual and social haven for our Seniors!
​Then this morning some of them have helped prepare for our booth at the Southside Farmers Market. We will be selling tacos, gorditas, rice, beans, elote, fruit, aguas Frescas, and more from 3 to 7 PM today.
Come to the corner of MLK and Jolly by Feeders Pet's Supply to get your meal and some fresh produce and sweets while you're at it. We will be there every two weeks this summer to give you fresh, authentic food at the Farmers Market. 🌮🌽🍍🍉🥤🤤

Buenas tardes a todos. Ayer tuvimos un gran cierre del programa para personas mayores con una bonita Misa y un picnic en el parque Frances, tal y como solemos hacer al final del año. ¡Gracias a todos nuestros dedicados voluntarios por crear este refugio espiritual y social para nuestros mayores!
​Además, esta mañana algunos de ellos han ayudado a preparar nuestro puesto en el mercado de agricultores de Southside. Hoy, de 3 a 7 de la tarde, venderemos tacos, gorditas, arroz, frijoles, elote, fruta, aguas frescas y mucho más.
