SERMON TEASER:
As the apostles Peter and John spoke about Jesus, they faced a mix bag of reactions. The crowds - loved it! The religious leaders - hated it! The healed man, believed it! But the powerful people who disliked their message, the religious leaders who were used to having all the power and attention for themselves, they were jealous and threatening. They had Peter and John arrested to keep them quiet. When others mistreat you because of your faith in Jesus, that is when you have to make a choice in your own heart about why you got involved in the first place. For Peter and John that "why" was simple - because there is NO other Name by which anyone can be saved! Come and see this Sunday!

Sermon Teaser: When crowds of people saw Peter and John heal the man who was born lame, they were immediately excited, intrigued, and very misguided! They interpreted everything wrong - they thought that Peter and John had done all the healing themselves, that they were just so strong, or so good, or so.....something....that they could heal this man. When people see you live for Jesus, they often attribute all the results to you, not the Spirit's work in you! And THAT is your opportunity to share that Christ has made the difference, not you! How do we share Jesus in a way that tells others they are able to share in Christ's blessings too? Come and see this Sunday!

We're having a picnic/cookout this Sunday afternoon! This is not a worship service at the park but a time to enjoy friends and invite new people. Meet at the Eagle Landing Pavilion (closest to the Zoo entrance and playground) at 3:00 pm. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided. Please bring a picnic dish to share!

How do you know if an apple tree is healthy? What are the signs you might look for? What about a banana tree? An orange tree? What about a coconut palm? Regardless of what tree it is, the signs of life can be hard to guess sometimes! You might have a season where the leaves just aren't as green as another season, or you might see some signs in the bark of the tree that something is going on. But are fluctuations in color a sign of a problem, or just signs of the seasons? If you see a bug on the tree should you panic and assume a problem, or simply trust that the birds in the next tree or the next strong wind will take care of the problem for you? One way to always tell the health of a tree - look at the fruit! Fruit will reveal the hydration of the tree; flavor and color will reveal nutrients and deficiencies. Worms reveal infestations even when the bark is not yet under assault. It is the same for believers following Jesus! If we want to look at the health of the believer, the surest way to do that is to examine the fruit of the life! Do we see the fruits of the Holy Spirit, or merely the fruit of much effort and a long time-span? Do we see proper seeding and reproduction, or a life that is lived alone and never produces or cultivates other believers and other fruit? How do we properly evaluate our fruitfulness?
