🔐 What Is Social Engineering?
Social engineering is a cyberattack that targets people instead of computers. Attackers use trust, urgency, emotions, and manipulation to trick individuals into sharing confidential information or giving access to secure systems. Common techniques include phishing, pretexting, baiting, tailgating, and quid pro quo. The process often starts with research, followed by building trust, manipulating the target, and ultimately gaining access. Social engineering is dangerous because it can bypass even strong technology and lead to data breaches, financial loss, and identity theft.
