In Liberty Hill, there's a special place called Hope House.

Since 1966 it's been a home, not a facility, for children and adults with profound disabilities. Fifty residents. Six houses. Caregivers there around the clock. And most months they have to turn kids away because there isn't room.

This fall, some of us are showing up there. Not to fix anything. Just to be there. Same faces, same residents, week after week, until it stops being a visit.

We think that's what love looks like. One hour at a time.

One hour beats a thousand sermons.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us got the idea that we need to get our lives together before we can come to Jesus.

Fix the marriage. Get the drinking under control. Figure out the doubts. Stop making the same mistakes.

And sometimes, that message came from the very people who were supposed to introduce us to Him.

But Jesus never asked for the cleaned-up version of us. He met people right in the middle of their mess. And He stayed.

You don't have to have it all figured out. You don't have to pretend you're someone you're not.

This fall, our church is giving 10,000 hours to our community.

Not 10,000 dollars. Hours. Showing up, sleeves rolled, at places doing real good right here: Hill Country Community Ministries, Key to Free, Hope House, Leander Middle School.

We're calling it Through You. Between now and November 1, every one of us gives one hour a week. Serve a meal. Sort donations. Read with a kid. Sit with somebody who needs it. Nothing fancy. Just showing up.

Why? Because we believe one hour beats a thousand sermons.

Today, we remember.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage and compassion that followed.

25 years later, the weight of September 11, 2001 still deserves our attention.

May we honor those we lost by choosing compassion, courage, and unity in the way we live today.

We will never forget.

Sometimes the thoughts that sound the most convincing in our heads are the ones we need to say out loud.

Because when everything stays internal, there’s no one there to challenge it, question it, or remind us of what we might be missing.

We all need at least one person who knows us well enough to speak into our lives.
