Someone asked me last week, “Who was Robin Bledsoe, and why did they name the park after him?”

Let me do one of my favorite things—share some history! When I started teaching in Leander ISD in the 1990s, the district was quite small and the town did not have many businesses. Whenever the schools needed help for sports equipment, student activities, or pretty much anything, Robin Bledsoe, who managed Payless Cashways Building and Lumber in Leander on Old 2243, always said yes! His generosity also extended to both the cities of Leander and Liberty Hill.

Just before his untimely death from cancer in 2005, the Leander Parks and Recreation Advisory Board requested and the Leander City Council agreed to rename the old Leander Park to honor the generous legacy of this selfless and gracious man. An enduring legacy to such a great person.

All remaining games at Bledsoe are canceled on Sunday, 9/26!
