MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! PROJECT RICOCHET JOINS THE NATIONAL DRUG-FREE COMMUNITIES NETWORK!

We are incredibly honored to announce that Project Ricochet has been selected to receive a Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program Award to launch Roots to Rise: Youth-Led Prevention for a Drug-Free Future.

The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program is the nation's leading community-based substance use prevention initiative. Established by Congress, the program supports local coalitions working to prevent youth substance use through evidence-based strategies, cross-sector collaboration, and community-driven action.

This award represents an extraordinary partnership between federal, state, and local leaders committed to improving the health and well-being of Kentucky's youth and families.

We are proud to partner with:

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) – the federal agency providing national leadership to reduce substance use and strengthen prevention efforts across America.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – providing scientific leadership, technical assistance, and support for implementing evidence-based community prevention strategies through the Drug-Free Communities Support Program and the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control [CE] (NCIPC).

To further this work, we also are a proud partner for Kentucky Partnerships for Success (PFS) supported by The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities Prevention & Promotion Branch. We are working hard to reduce alcohol, ni****ne (including va**ng), and cannabis use among Kentucky youth by supporting communities at greatest risk.

Further, we align with the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, whose longstanding commitment to health equity and healthier communities continues to strengthen prevention efforts across the Commonwealth.

Through Roots to Rise, Project Ricochet will unite youth, families, schools, healthcare providers, faith communities, barbershops, beauty salons, local government, law enforcement, businesses, and community organizations to strengthen protective factors, reduce risk, and empower young people to lead lasting change.

This recognition belongs to our coalition partners, volunteers, youth leaders, families, supporters, and the many organizations that have stood beside us over the years. Together, we are demonstrating that when communities work together, prevention is not simply possible...it is transformational.

Together, we are planting the seeds today for healthier, stronger, drug-free communities tomorrow.

✨ BEAUTY. MOVEMENT. WELLNESS. ✨

At Project Ricochet, we believe our trusted community spaces can do more than transform appearances, they can help transform lives.

We're excited to spotlight Crown Fit Wellness at Carolyn's Crown & Glory Hair Salon in Lexington, KY, where clients can incorporate light physical activity into their salon experience while practicing intentional self-care.

Whether it's a few minutes on the mini-cycle or light resistance training during a deep-conditioning treatment, meditation with our Spotify Crown Fit Relaxation playlist or journaling in the Infinity Spiritual Center Self-Care Journal, every movement is a reminder that small steps create lasting change.

❤️ Improved circulation
⚡ Increased energy
😊 Better mood and stress relief
👑 A wellness experience designed with our community in mind

This innovative approach is part of the Project Ricochet Barbershop & Beauty Salon Public Health Initiative, demonstrating how barbershops and beauty salons can serve as trusted spaces for prevention, health promotion, and community well-being.

Because wellness doesn't begin at the doctor's office; it begins where people already gather, connect, and care for one another.
