A contingency of our August 2026 police recruits banded together to participate in the Annual “Free Bird” 5k in memory of retired Lexington Police Officer and E-911 dispatcher Charles “Charlie” O’Connell. The Lexington Police Department emphasizes physical fitness and camaraderie through training beginning in the early phases of training in our Police Academy. We are proud of our recruits for coming together on their off time, with some even bringing their families along, to remember one of our own!
