Matchstick Goods

It’s been a great summer, and now it’s time for our team to take a little break! ☀️ We will be out of the studio for the next couple weeks. We will fill all orders and answer any questions when we return on August 10th!

We tried a new skill this summer: screenprinting! Before our students could print their artwork onto ceramics, we first needed to recreate their sketchs digitally. Michele, our Studio Lead (and a soon-to-be graduate of UK’s Design School!) showed our team exactly what goes into this process. 👩🏽‍💻

A surprise joy from this summer was that Shammah, a former Matchstick Student Employees, rejoined us for a summer internship! Since working with us and graduating, he’s been studying Economics at UK. This summer, instead of making pottery, Shammah has been putting his new skills to use by helping to create a comprehensive cost analysis for Matchstick Goods. 💵

We’re so thankful for all the work he contributed to making sure that we have all the information we need to be able to run our business!

🔶Stefanie is a rising junior at Bryan Station High School.
🔶In her free time, she enjoys watching tv shows. She also really likes listening to music and singing along with it.
🔶If Stefanie could have any superpower, it would be the ability to fly, because she would be able to fly wherever she wanted whenever she wanted!
🔶She’s an outgoing person and likes to do new things! She loves music and her family.

Meet Danny, Stefanie, and Ashley—our Summer Youth Employees! Each summer, Matchstick Goods hires students from Common Good’s Youth Program to work in our studio, and many stay with us through the school year. You may recognize Ashley, who started with us last year, and Danny, who started the year before that!
