It shouldn’t have to be like this. Women should be able to run whenever and wherever they want!!

🚨 Women’s safety while running 🚨 🔴 Always carry your phone and keep location on (even better, share live location) 🔴 ensure people know that you’re out on a run, the distance, and the route you’re taking 🔴 run where there’s traffic. No isolated pretty places should be on your route. 🔴 run in residential areas, so there are people who will hear you if you screamed, and there are doors to knock on if you need help. 🔴 run in areas frequented by runners, because we runners notice each other and keep an eye out on each other. From giving you water to drink, to trying to help in any other way, runners are a wonderful community. 🔴 run with people. But if you run alone sometimes, the other points should help. There are many, many cases where runners were hurt while out on a run. This is a bigger safety concern for women who run. Have I missed anything? Running in a sports bra as a woman has NEVER been an invitation for a predator.

On a hot summer day, women want to be able to enjoy their runs and get some exercise.

But, do you know what ruins their run every single time?

It’s the catcalling, the honks, the stares…

✨ A woman running in a sports bra is not an invitation ✨ ⠀⠀⠀ In light of the iconic photo of the England women’s football team’s victory I decided enough is enough and it is way too hot to be bothering with a t shirt. ⠀⠀⠀ These small acts may seem irrelevant to some but how many women: ⠀⠀⠀ • make sure to avoid showing flesh when exercising • avoid running at night • refrain from giving away their location or posting their running routes • get cat called daily • are followed or have people “jokingly” join in running with them • and sadly as we know bear the brunt of many other intimidating and violent behaviours ⠀⠀⠀ Enough is enough. ⠀⠀⠀ Sport is to be enjoyed by all and we do not need more barriers to exercise. ⠀⠀⠀ Wear what you feel comfortable in but it is not up to women to cover up.✌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀

Running has helped so many women both mentally and physically!

It is such an amazing sport and activity to do!

But, do you know what ruins it?

If you said “women feeling unsafe” you’ve definitely felt what it’s like as a women who runs and constantly checks over her shoulder.

The fact that women have to constantly keep their head on a swivel, change their routes, and even wear specific clothing is outrageous.

Women should be able to run ANYTIME and ANYWHERE!
