However, because doors open constantly, keeping the indoor temperature cool is a major challenge. To keep all of our furry guests safe, please note these temporary changes effective immediately for this week:🚨 POSSIBLE UNANNOUNCED CLOSURES If indoor temperatures reach unsafe levels, we will close daycare immediately without prior notice. Please monitor Facebook for updates. 🚫 FLAT-FACED BREEDS MUST STAY HOME Pugs, Bulldogs, Boxers, Shih Tzus, and Boston Terriers—please stay home this week for your own safety. Brachycephalic breeds are at a much higher risk, and we want to keep you safe! We love you and will miss you!🛑 STRICTLY LIMITED CAPACITY We are capping the number of dogs allowed in daycare. If you plan to arrive after 9:00 AM, you MUST call ahead to ensure we have open space.🌡️ WHY IS THIS SO DANGEROUS? The heat index (temperature + humidity) is far more dangerous to dogs than actual air temperature. Humans sweat to cool off, but dogs rely almost entirely on panting. High humidity prevents moisture from evaporating from their tongues. When panting fails, a dog's internal temperature can skyrocket into life-threatening heatstroke within minutes.
