Our Daily Bread Community Center

We believe everyone should have the chance to sit down together and share a meal, and we'd love for you to experience that alongside us at least once.

Volunteering at Our Daily Bread can mean serving in the dining room, filling trays on the line, helping with food prep, stocking the pantry, unloading donations, or cleaning up after the meal.

Most days, our volunteers get to choose where they'd like to serve.

Churches, businesses, schools, and service organizations often schedule a morning together, and it's a simple way for a group to see the ministry firsthand.

A good meal should never be out of reach, and at Our Daily Bread it never costs a thing. Our doors on S. Central Avenue in downtown Lima are open Monday through Friday, and everyone who walks in is treated as a friend.

If you or someone you know could use a hot lunch this Hunger Action Day, simply come in, sit down, and let us serve you. Our volunteers will greet you with a smile, and you're free to ask about clothing or hygiene items while you're here.

Because our daily schedule can shift, we'd recommend calling ahead for serving times.

For some of the friends who join us at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, the meal we serve is the only hot meal they'll eat that day. Others come for the fellowship and a familiar face across the table.

Whatever brings someone through our doors, we greet them as a friend and welcome them to a safe place, a good meal, and hope through Jesus Christ.

How is my day going, is a question I get asked a lot. Well, my answer right now is "Awesome"! This morning it wasn't. Yesterday someone pooped in a urinal (yes, you read that right) this morning, three times someone came to me complaining about someone else and what they did. So, I got on the mic and reminded everyone that they were adults, grown men and women, and I wasn't their babysitter or dad. If they couldn't be kind to each other while they were here, I would shut the place down. They haven't seen me get upset very often over the years so there was a quiet time after that. For the devotion today I chose Ecclesiastes 9:11 (I'll let you look it up) and I explained that what the author is telling us is that life is not fair. That no matter what we want and expect out of life it doesn't always go our way. Good things happen for bad people, and bad things happen for good people. All we can do is submit and trust in God. During lunch, while in the office, a woman came in and thanked me for the devotion. She said she was going through a hard time; her husband had been hit by a truck and was in a coma for 2 months. Once he came to, he had several strokes and has been in for the last 3 months. He's a fighter and is still fighting, but she has been struggling through it all and didn't know if she could keep going. Now she knows she has to keep going, that she isn't alone in facing trials. She has already come a long way. After 30 years of substance abuse, coming to ODB made her realized where her life was heading. She got clean and is currently in her 2nd year of online college courses to become a substance abuse counselor. So, yea, I'm doing awesome now. Being a part of ODB has been amazing. God's words have touch people in ways I never expected. They aren't my words, just my voice. And when I need it most, God takes care of me. God bless.

What a lot of fun we had and what an awesome event they put on for us. This is just a fraction of what Tom Ahl does for the community and we are blessed to be a part of it. God bless.

Today, we’re especially grateful for the volunteers, supporters, churches, and community members who make Our Daily Bread possible.

For years, this ministry has been built on people showing up for one another with kindness, meals, prayer, and encouragement.

We serve three meals a day, Monday through Friday, and none of it would happen without this incredible community behind us.
