SPP returned to the nation’s capital this week for our Annual Government Affairs Conference.
Stakeholders gathered to hear from members of Congress and policy experts on issues shaping the energy industry and the communities we serve.
The conference also included a private tour of the U.S. Capitol, hosted by Senator John Boozman (R-AR).
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Washington, D.C., for a valuable opportunity to connect, learn and engage on issues important to the industry.

The SPP photo club brings employees together year-round to share photography tips, swap inspiration and build new skills, whether capturing moments on a smartphone or shooting with a top-of-the-line DSLR. And if you stroll through our Chenal campus, you might even spot their work brightening our halls as a daily reminder of the talent and community that make SPP such a great place to work.
To celebrate the end of summer, the club held a photo competition, and the results are in:
🥇 Neptune Beach
🥈 Summer Solstice
🥉 Poolside
A huge congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to everyone who shared their summer photos!

More than 51,000 hours of training in 2025 helped operations personnel across SPP’s region strengthen their knowledge and skills.
SPP’s training program served 388 organizations through courses focused on energy markets, operator training, reliability and the Western Energy Imbalance Service (WEIS) market.

Each month, SPP employees select a local or national organization to support. For September, we're proud to spotlight the American Red Cross, an organization that provides critical support to people facing emergencies while helping individuals and communities prepare to respond when disaster strikes.
Throughout the month, SPP employees will be raising funds to support the American Red Cross while also sharing simple steps internally that everyone can take to be better prepared when the unexpected happens.
We look forward to making a difference together this month!

The value of transmission goes beyond the miles.
SPP’s more than 85,000 miles of transmission connect members and energy resources across the region. That reach helps move electricity where it’s needed, gives members access to a broader range of resources and strengthens the ability to coordinate across the region. It’s one of the many ways SPP supports reliability and creates value for its members.

Congratulations to the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) on the opening of Grand River Energy Center Unit No. 4, a 426-megawatt advanced-class natural gas generation facility and a $525 million investment in the region’s energy infrastructure. The innovative installation will give GRDA greater flexibility in meeting demand and providing reliability for customers.
“The new simple‑cycle plant is exactly the kind of investment our region needs. This is new capacity that will support economic development and help future-proof the system for what's ahead, while meeting the needs of all consumers who depend on GRDA to keep the lights on,” said SPP President and CEO Lanny Nickell.
Congratulations again to GRDA and all of the partners who spent years bringing this project to completion. SPP is honored to continue working alongside GRDA and all members to create a stronger, more resilient energy future.
Regional transmission planning means spotting where the grid needs upgrades before reliability risks or costs pile up. As a regional transmission planner, SPP works across state and utility boundaries to help members and their customers keep the lights on, manage costs and plan for future growth. Backed by deep expertise and smart planning tools, SPP turns data into practical, dependable results for our 17 state footprint.
