Today is International Day of Sign Languages. 🤟

Sign language is intricate, expressive, and incredibly complex.
It isn’t simply spoken language translated onto the hands. Sign languages have their own grammar, syntax, regional differences, slang, humor, storytelling traditions, and cultural history.

A movement can change meaning.

Facial expressions carry grammatical information.

Where a sign is made can matter.

And just like spoken languages, sign languages vary across countries and communities.

There are hundreds of sign languages used around the world, each representing the people and cultures who use them.

Today is a good day to recognize not only sign languages themselves, but the Deaf communities that have developed, preserved, and passed them on.

Accessibility is important. But so is recognizing language, identity, culture, and history.

Happy International Day of Sign Languages.

Twenty-five years.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the heroes who ran toward danger, those who helped strangers escape, and the sacrifices made that day and in the years that followed.

Thousands of people left that day with injuries and disabilities that would impact them for the rest of their lives. Others developed serious physical and mental health conditions months or even years later because of their exposure and experiences.

According to the CDC’s World Trade Center Health Program, 89,953 enrolled responders and survivors have at least one certified 9/11-related health condition.

That number deserves our attention.

Because remembering September 11 also means remembering the people who survived it and continue to live with its effects today.

As we honor the heroes and sacrifices of that day, we must also look forward.
We must continue supporting survivors and responders. We must continue supporting people with disabilities. And we must build communities, emergency plans, spaces, and systems that consider people with disabilities from the very beginning.

We cannot prevent every tragedy.

But we can choose what kind of world we build afterward.

September is Deaf Awareness Month

And it is about more than awareness. 💜

It’s about celebrating a community rich in culture, language, history, connection, and resilience.

And it’s about creating a world where no one has to fight simply to be part of the conversation.

This September, we celebrate the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community by raising awareness, and by listening, learning, and making room for every voice.

Recently, we’ve received emails from former clients saying something pretty simple:

Across professional and collegiate sports, our schedule continues to grow with returning customers, longtime clients, and organizations choosing VZP for the first time.

And it's happening during one of the most transformative periods the sports industry has seen.

College athletics departments are navigating:
