đ„ Small bore. Big character.
This vintage Harrington & Richardson .410 sh***un is getting a fresh dose of old-school style with color case hardening. Swirling blues, purples, and warm amber tones give the steel a distinctive look that pairs beautifully with its classic lines.
A tribute to traditional craftsmanshipâand a little extra personality for a sh***un with plenty of history.
What do you think of this classic finish? đ
Here is another clip of a classic hunting expedition. This time we head to India for a Shikar (safari) in search of the elusive tigers that remain hidden in the shadows.
Experience a classic Tiger Shikar deep in the Indian jungle. See what a vintage safari expedition looked like firsthand.
The pursuit of big game hunting has long been a subject of fascination for sportsmen and historians alike. This footage captures a rare look at a traditional expedition through the dense forests of India, where hunters tracked elusive predators across rugged terrain. It is a striking visual record of an era when the jungle was wild and the challenges of the hunt were shaped entirely by the landscape.
Beyond the thrill of the chase, the footage documents the logistical reality of Indian wildlife expeditions from a bygone age. From navigating thick vegetation to the essential gear and support teams required for such a journey, this clip provides a unique window into the methods of the past. Whether you are interested in the history of the sport or simply the atmosphere of old-world travel, this look at a Tiger Shikar offers a glimpse into a time that few remember. In 1998, Smith & Wesson built a limited run of 686 Plus Mountain Guns that quietly became legends among people who actually carry revolvers in the field. Slim tapered barrel. Round butt. Seven rounds of .357. Just enough weight to shoot well, not enough to weigh you down on a long hike.
Now, 27 years later, Lipseyâs and S&W have brought it back â and improved it.
The new Model 686 Plus Mountain Gun keeps everything that made the original special and adds modern strength: ball-detent lockup, reinforced forcing cone, no internal lock, and beautiful Tyler Gun Works Bear Hug walnut grips. Brushed stainless, gold-bead front sight, and that classic Mountain Gun profile that just looks right on a belt or in a chest holster.
At 35 ounces itâs lighter than many K-frames, yet it still has the durability of an L-frame built for continuous Magnum use. Whether youâre packing it for bear country, ranch work, or just want a beautiful, practical .357, this one hits the sweet spot
Remembering Skeeter Skelton â the real deal.
Born in Hereford, Texas in 1928, Charles âSkeeterâ Skelton lived the life most gun writers only write about. Marine Corps, Amarillo PD, U.S. Border Patrol (including the last horse-mounted patrols), Sheriff of Deaf Smith County, Customs, and DEA Special Agent in Charge before retiring to write full-time.
From 1967 until his death in 1988, he was the Handgun Editor at Shooting Times, penning more than 400 articles filled with hard-earned knowledge, dry humor, and unforgettable stories (âMe and Joe,â Dobe Grant, Jug Johnson). He helped revive the .44 Special, loved his R***r Flat-Tops and Smith & Wessons, and never took himself too seriously.
His collections Good Friends, Good Guns, Good Wh***ey and Hoglegs, Hipshots and Jalapeños remain must-reads.
A true American original. The kind of writer who made you feel like youâd just spent an evening on the porch with a trusted friend.
Who else still pulls out their old Shooting Times issues for a Skeeter fix?

Nearly ninety years later, the Ithaca Model 37 remains more than a sh***unâit is a true American classic.
đ„ ELMER KEITH: THE MAN WHO BELIEVED BIGGER WAS BETTER đ„
Few names loom larger in American fi****ms and hunting history than Elmer Keith.
Born in 1899, Keith became one of the most influential gun writers, hunters, experimenters, and outspoken characters of the 20th century. His extensive experimentation with heavy revolver loads helped pave the way for the development of the legendary .44 Magnum, forever changing the world of powerful sporting handguns.
But Keith wasnât just a handgun enthusiast. He was a lifelong hunter and outdoorsman who wrote extensively about ri**es, sh***uns, revolvers, big-game hunting, bullet performance, and the realities of shooting in the field. His booksâincluding Sixguns, Hell, I Was There! and Big Game Ri**es and Cartridgesâremain fascinating snapshots of an era when fi****ms development often happened through hands-on experimentation.
Known for his trademark cowboy hat, strong opinions, and preference for heavy bullets and substantial calibers, Keith built a reputation that still sparks discussion among hunters and shooters today.
More than four decades after his death, Elmer Keithâs influence can still be felt every time someone talks about the .44 Magnum, heavy-for-caliber bullets, or hunting with a revolver.
Whatâs your favorite Elmer Keith story, book, or cartridge?

Martin & Osa Johnson: Hunters, Explorers & Adventurers đŠđ
Long before modern safari documentaries, Martin and Osa Johnson were traveling through some of the most remote regions of Africa, combining exploration, filmmaking, photographyâand big-game hunting.
During the early decades of the 20th century, hunting was an important part of the safari culture surrounding many expeditions. The Johnsons encountered and hunted African big game while documenting elephants, lions, rhinoceroses, buffalo, and other wildlife with cameras that brought these animals to audiences thousands of miles away.
Osa became particularly famous for challenging the expectations placed on women of her era. Photographs frequently show her in safari clothing and carrying a r***e alongside Martinâa striking image during the 1920s and 1930s.
Over time, their expeditions increasingly emphasized filming and photographing wildlife, leaving behind an enormous visual record of Africa from a very different era of safari and conservation.
From ri**es and safari camps to motion-picture cameras and airplanes, Martin and Osa Johnson became enduring figures in the history of big-game hunting and outdoor exploration.
Could you have handled an African safari in the 1920s?
