🚲🛴 Ride to School and Join Our Bike/Scooter Rodeo!

Hi Ellis families!

Get those bikes and scooters ready! Our PTA Bike/Scooter Rodeo is happening Wednesday, September 30, at 2:15 p.m. in the back area of Ellis Elementary, and we’re excited for a fun afternoon together! Our wonderful resource officer will be making sure all kids have a helmet that’s adjusted to their head and meets the ultimate safety standards.

We encourage everyone to safely ride their bike or scooter to school that day! Please wear a helmet, follow traffic rules, and be careful at crossings. Families, please help your child plan a safe route and decide whether an adult should accompany them.

After school, kids can join us for fun activity stations where they’ll practice stopping, turning, hand signals, avoiding obstacles, and riding with control. We’ll also have helmet checks to help everyone get ready to ride safely.

Each participating child will receive a snack, a water bottle, and a prize to take home!

A CHANCE TO WIN A BIKE!

At the end of the rodeo, we’ll hold a raffle for kids who participate, with a chance to win a bike! We’re excited to wrap up the afternoon with this fun giveaway.

What to bring: Your child’s bike or scooter and a helmet. Helmets are required for all riding activities.

This is a family event, and siblings are welcome to participate too!

Mark your calendars for September 30. We can’t wait to see our Ellis kids riding, learning, and having fun together!

Meet the heart behind Ellis Elementary, Principal Doug Beach! This is Mr. Beach's 10th year at Ellis. Before joining our school, he spent 15 years as assistant principal at Mt. Logan Middle School, and he started his career as a Science and Spanish teacher.

When we asked what he loves most, his answer was simple: the teachers and students. There's nothing he enjoys more than spending time with students and watching them learn.

His goal for this year is for every student to feel safe and supported in both their academics and their friendships. He's also hoping the school can return to 95% attendance, just like in years past.

Outside of school, his greatest joy is being a husband and father. His wife teaches Kindergarten at Wilson Elementary, and he loves spending time with his kids and family. His favorite sport is golf, though he played football at Utah State University.

In his own words: "Outside of time with my own family, one of my life's greatest pleasures is spending time with the Ellis School community of teachers, parents, and students. Go Eagles!"

Classroom Parents Needed

Ellis Eagles families, we need your help to make our Halloween and Valentine's Day classroom parties happen! Here's how you can pitch in:

Be a head room parent. You'll help coordinate volunteers for your child's classroom. You won't be doing it all yourself, we promise!

Help at a party. Not ready to lead? No problem. We just need extra hands for one or both parties. Even one makes a big difference.

Donate instead. Can't make it in person? You can chip in toward the parties. Suggested $3 per child, but it's optional and any amount helps.

Ready to jump in? Fill out the sign-up form below. The sooner you sign up, the sooner we can start planning the fun!
