UCC crews have been working hard in Park City đŸ’Ș

Throughout the entire summer and into the fall, our members helped Park City Trails & Open Space install hundreds of native plants and remove over 100 acres of invasive weeds!

Their efforts to remove invasive weeds like garlic mustard, dyer’s woad, and thistles from trails and trail heads can significantly minimize the spread of these species that can easily cling to trail users’ shoes, clothes, and tires.

Show them some love in the comments! 🙌

Making Corps memories!

September has been full of excitement:

🎂Our 25th Anniversary Celebration in Moab was awesome — we’re so thankful for the members, alumni, and partners that helped us load up Warm Elders Non-Profit Organization with firewood for this winter! Our local partnerships are so important to us.

Special shoutout to Rim to Rim Restoration for pictures 1-4! Grand County Noxious Weeds Department Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands Great Basin Institute

đŸ„Ÿ Sean and Jake D. celebrated the launch of the BLM’s All Americans Outside initiative, which will improve accessibility and help more people of all abilities enjoy our public lands! Bureau of Land Management

🐼 Sean visited our fellow Aggies at USU Blanding — Welcome, AVP Ken Guan!!

🎉 UCC members, staff, and alumni participated in USU’s Homecoming parade on Saturday! We had a blast giving out candy and ear protection.

Being a part of so many important events makes us feel especially grateful to all of the folks that have contributed to the success of our program. We couldn’t have made it 25 years without all of you! Cheers to the next 25 đŸ„€

Maverik, Inc. is UCC’s first stop out of the backcountry đŸ€€

A fresh batch of Bonfire Grill pizza and burritos are a glorious sight to behold after working hard in the High Unitas and eating backpacking meals for 8 days!

Our Field Logistics Technicians have proven their dedication to conservation this season! They’ve spent so much time and energy doing thankless tasks that help our offices run smoothly.

Chainsaw troubleshooting? They’re on it.
Forgot your propane? They’re on the way.
Need a morale boost? They’re already doing the worm.

Over the last few months, we’ve watched them become skilled sawyers, confident leaders, and patient teachers. It will be bittersweet to see them leave our program in a few short months, but we are so excited to see what they do next!

If a position like this interests you, keep an eye on our Open Positions page! We’ll be opening the application for next seasons’s Field Logistics Technician in the coming weeks.

UCC members had the opportunity to participate in disaster relief efforts in Beaver, UT to help homeowners recover from the severe flooding following the Cottonwood fire that happened earlier this summer.

Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate bringing help to the people in Beaver! It was an honor to work with state agencies and serve our community in such an impactful way.

After a summer of hard work, the McCoy Flats Campground is officially open and ready to host your next camping trip!

UCC Moab Crews worked with Bureau of Land Management Utah all summer long to restore this campground and improve access for public land users by installing buck and rail fencing, leveling roadways and walking paths, removing invasive weeds, installing signage, and so much more! This project gave them valuable skills and the opportunity to directly serve their community.

The McCoy Flats Campground is near tons of mountain biking trails and will offer affordable camping for those looking to ride, explore, or just simply enjoy their public lands. It’s been such an honor to be a part of this project — come check it out!

Yahoo! We’re so excited to send our fall crews out into the field next week 🙌

Our members spent 12 days earning their A Sawyer certifications, improving local trails while learning trail building/ maintenance techniques, becoming familiar with Utah’s unpredictable weather patterns, and working on their hacky sack skills. They’re ready to make a difference and have fun doing it!

Thank you to our new members who traveled from all over the country to serve with us this season! We’re glad you’re here.

Exactly 1 month ago, we were waiting anxiously to find out what the extent of the damage was from the Canyon Rd. Fire that swept through our Logan office and damaged several of our members' cars, a few sheds, and our garden.

This has been a very difficult month for us, but the support from all of you has made a huge difference. We are truly so grateful for everyone who made a donation or helped provide assistance for our members affected by the fire.

We'd like to give a special shoutout to our friends at Valley Mutual Aid for stepping in so quickly to help provide critical resources for our members. They were not expecting such an overwhelming response from their community! We cannot express our appreciation enough. Thanks to your incredible support, we were able to get our fall season started with some wind in our sails!

As time passes and we reflect on this period of our program's history, we'll remember the strength and support we felt from our community more than the damage caused by the fire.

At this time we are no longer accepting donations for the members affected by this fire. But, donated gear is always appreciated as our members endure all sorts of weather throughout their field season. If you'd like to learn more about how to donate gear, please contact [email protected].
