Join me as I host the 3rd annual “America, Our Home” on CBS KUTV’s Channel 2, KJZZ, KMYU, and the American Forces Network this weekend.

This year we celebrate the USA’s 250th Anniversary through music and message, focusing on our common ground of patriotism, cherished traditions, and rich history, while paying tribute to those who have served and are currently serving the country.

One month ago today, our family and friends gathered to honor my father’s life. Some days the loss feels distant, and other days it feels like it happened this morning.

I’ve learned that grief isn’t just about missing someone. It’s also about recognizing how deeply they shaped who you are. I’ve caught myself smiling at memories, hearing his voice in my head, and noticing pieces of him in our family every day. Grief has a way of reminding us just how much someone mattered.

I miss his voice, his wisdom, his laughter, and simply knowing he was there. At the same time, I’ve never felt more grateful for the life he lived, the family he built, and the legacy he leaves behind.

I love you, Daddy-O. Always. ❤️

“It could all end tomorrow. Where would I be? Does life go on or will it be the end of me?”

These lyrics written by my dad over 50 years ago hit me harder more today than ever.

It’s been just over a month since I said goodbye to my father, , and today being Memorial Day felt especially meaningful.

I spent some time today at his graveside with my wife and kids reflecting on his life, the kind of man he was, and the legacy he left behind for all of us.

There’s something grounding about remembering the people who help to shape you, the lessons they taught, the values they lived by, and the quiet ways they influenced who you might become.

My father did that for so many people, but especially for our family. I find myself seeing pieces of him more and more in my own life, and even in my kids.

This video I’m sharing is just a small snippet from a promo film my dad made with his brothers in 1973 for what was their latest album at the time called, The Plan. This is only a tiny clip of the full project, but these particular lyrics felt especially poignant.

It’s incredible how words written decades ago can still speak so clearly into the present moment.

I Miss you, Daddy-O! Thank you for the example you set, the love you gave, and the pieces of yourself you left behind that still continue to move and inspire me today.

It’s been a week since I said goodbye to my father at his celebration of life. And somehow the world feels both incredibly full and painfully quiet at the same time.

So many people knew him through the music. He was a music artist, an entertainer, a songwriter of gold and platinum records. The songs that became part of people’s lives, memories, road trips, weddings, and moments they’ll never forget. Great songs have a way of staying with us. We play them over and over again because they make us feel something. They comfort us. Inspire us. Remind us who we are.

But as I’ve reflected this past week, I’ve realized the greatest hits of my father’s life were never just the songs he wrote… they were the moments he created. The way he loved his family. The way he made people feel seen. The way he carried faith, kindness, humility, humor, and quiet strength into every room he entered. Those are the songs that now play on repeat in my heart.

I find myself longing for just one more conversation. One more laugh. One more story. One more chance to hear his voice say my name. Grief has a way of making silence feel louder than noise ever could.

Claude Debussy said, “Music is the space between the notes.” That space is where his presence lives now. In the silence, I still feel him. In the pauses between busy moments. In memories that arrive unexpectedly. In melodies that suddenly hit differently. In the lessons he taught me that continue guiding my life every single day.

I miss him deeply. More than words can fully express. I also recognize how unfairly blessed I was to call a man like him my father. To learn from him. To watch him create. To witness the way he lived his life with purpose and heart.

Yesterday feels especially close right now. But even in the heartbreak, I’m grateful. Grateful for every memory, every lesson, every laugh, every song… and every moment of his life’s greatest hits that will continue playing in my mind forever.

I love you, Daddy-O. 💙

Last night, my dad passed away. To be honest… I’m still trying to process it.

It’s hard to put into words what a life like his really means. He wasn’t just my father. He was an immense example of strength, of kindness, of how to treat people, and how to show up when it matters most.

He was my buddy, and I shared so much in common with him. The love of music, yes, but strangely, we even shared the same diagnosis of MS. We knew each other’s frustrations in that, without even saying a word. Just a long hug, and we understood each other in a rare and beautifully unique way. Having a dad who led by example through the battle with resilience and determination, never EVER giving up, and encouraging me to do the same, was such a gift.

He’s larger than life in my heart and mind. His creativity, his faith, his ability to lead and inspire. There are so many things I’ll miss. The conversations, the laughter, the simple moments that didn’t feel big at the time but now mean everything. What I’m realizing is that the greatest gift he gave me wasn’t just in what he said or did, but in who he was. I feel him in every step that I take. And that’s something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.

My heart is broken, but it’s also full of immense gratitude. Grief for the tragic loss of his physical presence, but joy in the knowledge that he is now free.

I love you, Daddy-O! Thank you for everything.

21 Valentine’s Days together… and I love you more with each one.

Valerie, you are the heart of our family, the calm in my chaos, and the greatest blessing in my life. You love deeply, give endlessly, and make every ordinary moment feel meaningful and warm. Having you in my life as my wife, the mother of our children, and also my best friend is one of the greatest joys I will ever know.

Thank you for walking beside me through every high and low, for believing in me, and for filling our home with laughter, faith, and so much love. I truly don’t know where I’d be without you.

Happy Valentine’s Day, my love. Here’s to 21 beautiful years… and forever still to come. ❤️
