Calm waters meet P2S paddle power! In tandem and solo kayaks, our Seattle staff paddled their way around beautiful Portage Bay. From shoreline sights to refreshing bay breezes, plus a well-earned Fitness Challenge point, it was a morning to remember for our adventurous team!

Plus, we had our interns share some unexpected fun facts incognito, and a grand prize went to whoever could match the most interns to their facts correctly. And to nobody's surprise, our crew of interns this summer is full of hidden talents!

Our Commissioning Technician Lizette Nguyen had the pleasure of presenting copies of "Lizzie the Engineer & the Secret Life of Buildings," P2S's original children's book, at the closing ceremony for Girl Buildrs's 2nd Annual Girls Summer Building Program!

An Orange County non-profit dedicated to empowering girls through STEAM education, Girl Buildrs hosted the event to celebrate the graduating "girl buildrs," who, over the course of the program, completed projects like pinball machines, pinewood derby cars, skateboards, and little library houses.

Congratulations to the graduates, and a special thank you to Lizette, whose contributions to our children's book are helping inspire the next generation of engineers. What a meaningful moment to see that mission continue by sharing the book with these future innovators!

Preparation is critical to first responders' success in tackling the complex emergencies they may encounter. For the City of San Francisco's Fire Training Facility, P2S provided MEP and solar design at the 7.5-acre site.

Our scope covered the training and support structures, including a Fire Apparatus Building, EMS Academy spaces, maintenance shops, and simulation and live fire training areas. We also designed a 100kW solar photovoltaic system for both the administration and training buildings, supporting the project's LEED Gold certification standards.

Predicting how air will move through a space before it's built can help identify potential thermal comfort issues early in the design process.

At P2S, we address that with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. We model airflow patterns and temperature distributions in complex spaces, then use that data to inform mechanical system design and selection. We also evaluate natural ventilation strategies — both wind-driven and buoyancy-driven — to assess their impact on thermal comfort and energy performance.

Here's to another year of teamwork, community, and P2S spirit! Our staff and their families came together for our annual picnic, this year specially celebrating our 35th anniversary. Cup stacking, ping pong rallies, frisbee games, bingo, and more rounded out a day that featured a fantastic softball game and a spread of picnic favorites.

P2S staff hit the water for our Surf Camp, a favorite of our annual Fitness Challenge!

With instruction, wetsuits, and boards ready to go, everyone had the chance to catch a wave (and maybe a few face-fulls of saltwater along the way). Thank you to the crew who kept us safe and taught us the ropes, and cheers to our brave new surfers who paddled out for the first time. Check out how our morning at the beach went!
