The Original Hands-Free Crutch - visit us at www.iwalk-free.com

The iWalk hands-free crutch is a crutch alternative designed for people with lower leg injuries who still want to enjoy their basic daily routines, but cannot while supporting their weight on crutches. The iWalk makes everyday tasks such as carrying your morning coffee from counter to car, pushing a shopping cart, taking the stairs without fear, caring for your children and walking your dog all possible while you heal. The iWalk-Free also provides partial elevation of your injured leg, something conventional crutches don't offer. iWALK-FREE is the only crutch alternative that provides this level of mobility for people suffering from a sprained ankle, Achilles injury, broken foot or ankle, lower leg amputee, and any other non weight bearing lower leg injury. iWALK-FREE gives you the capability to perform your day-to-day activities, enhance your mobility, and restore your independence without the pain and inconvenience of underarm crutches.

Friends don’t let friends assume underarm crutches are their only option. 💛

When someone you care about is facing weeks of non-weight-bearing recovery, you bring the snacks, offer the rides, help with the errands—and send them information that could make everyday life a little easier.

For appropriate injuries and users, the hands-free iWALK crutch can make it possible to stand, walk and handle everyday activities without occupying both hands.

Because sometimes being a good friend means showing up. And sometimes it means saying, “You need to know this exists.”

A lower-leg injury may change your stance, but it doesn’t have to completely disconnect you from the game you love.

With the hands-free iWALK crutch, you can keep your hands on the club—not on crutches—while staying connected to the course, your golf community, and the moments that make recovery feel a little more like living.

Your foot may need time. Your life doesn’t have to stop.

Recovery isn’t only about getting from one place to another.

It’s about staying connected to the people who make your life yours.

Holding your child’s hand.

Helping someone you love.

Going somewhere with your partner.

Showing up for your family.

Being part of the moment instead of watching it happen around you.

That’s one of the things hands-free mobility can give back during lower-leg recovery: the ability to use both hands while you move through everyday life.

Research has found that people using a hands-free crutch can perform activities of daily living that may be difficult or impossible with conventional crutches or knee scooters, including childcare, working, shopping, cooking and navigating stairs (Canter et al., 2023). Other research has demonstrated increased independence during everyday activities and has associated that independence with a more positive attitude toward life (Rambani et al., 2007; Barth et al., 2019).

Because sometimes what you’re trying to get back to isn’t a thing at all.

It’s them.

Recover better. Get back to what you love.

Your hands have work to do.

If you’re a photographer, hairstylist, chef, artist, teacher, tradesperson, healthcare professional or anyone else who relies on their hands to earn a living, a lower-leg injury can affect a lot more than how you walk.

It can affect whether and how you work.

That’s one reason hands-free mobility matters.

Research examining hands-free crutch use has found benefits related to functional independence and the ability to complete activities of daily living, including work-related activities. Research has also found lower energy demands with a hands-free crutch compared with traditional crutches.

For appropriate non-weight-bearing users, keeping both hands available can mean getting back to doing more of the things their work actually requires.

Because sometimes getting back on your feet starts with getting your hands back.

Recovery isn’t just about getting back to the things you have to do.

It’s about getting back to the things you LOVE to do.

The gym. Dancing. Hobbies. Getting outside. Going places. Seeing people. And all those everyday moments that make life feel like yours.

Because mobility matters Monday through Friday — but so does having the freedom to enjoy your days off.

For the days you have to. And the days you get to.

Get back to what you love.

Recovery is hard enough.

Making coffee shouldn’t have to be.

Cooking dinner shouldn’t have to be.

Taking care of your kids shouldn’t have to be.

Walking the dog, carrying groceries, working, doing laundry and moving through everyday life shouldn’t suddenly become impossible because you’re recovering from a lower-leg injury.

And there’s research behind the difference hands-free mobility can make.

Published research has found that activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living, including shopping, working, cooking, childcare and stairs, can be possible with a hands-free crutch when those same activities may be difficult or impossible with conventional crutches or knee scooters (Canter et al., 2023).

In a randomized controlled trial, participants using a hands-free crutch were able to complete activities around the home (Rambani et al., 2007), and other research has associated the increased independence provided by hands-free mobility with a more positive attitude toward life (Barth et al., 2019).

You can’t control everything about recovery.

But the right mobility solution can change what you’re able to do while you’re going through it.

Get your hands back. Get more of your life back.

Why are we still defaulting to crutches?

Crutches have their place. But for appropriate non-weight-bearing patients, they aren’t the only option, and research gives us another reason to consider the alternatives.

In a gait study comparing standard axillary crutches (SACs) with a hands-free crutch (HFC), researchers found that walking with standard axillary crutches resulted in an 84% increase in the range of whole-body angular momentum compared with the HFC.

Why does that matter?

Greater sagittal-plane angular momentum has been associated with poorer balance and increased fall risk. The researchers concluded that the higher levels observed with standard axillary crutches indicate patients may be at greater risk of falling compared with the hands-free crutch.

Recovery isn’t only about protecting an injury. It’s also about helping appropriate patients move safely and functionally while maintaining their prescribed non-weight-bearing restrictions.

Maybe it’s time to ask a different question:

Which mobility solution is right for this patient?

Recovery, but make it kind of chic. ✨

And by chic, we mean choosing a recovery option that helps you stay active, independent and hands-free.

It’s kind of chic to choose evidence-based recovery.

🦵 It’s kind of chic to help reduce muscle atrophy.
💪 It’s kind of chic to keep muscles engaged.
🙌 It’s kind of chic to keep your hands free for everyday life.
🌎 It’s kind of chic to keep doing more of the things that make you YOU.

Research on hands-free crutch use has found increased muscle activity, reduced muscle atrophy and strong patient preference compared with traditional crutches.

Because recovery shouldn’t only be about getting through it.

Recover smarter. Keep moving. Keep living.

Better than crutches.
Better than scooters.

The hands-free recovery hack nobody told me about? 👀

Actually having my HANDS.

When a lower-leg injury changes how you get around, it can also change everything else; working, cooking, shopping, taking care of your kids and getting things done around the house.

That’s one of the biggest differences with the hands-free iWALK crutch.

🙌 Spend time with the kids
💻 Get back to work
🏠 Tackle everyday chores
🛒 Run errands
🌱 Even getting back to yardwork

In a study comparing a hands-free crutch with traditional crutches and a knee scooter, participants preferred the hands-free crutch for activities of daily living, walking and stair climbing. Researchers also found lower heart rate, perceived exertion and energy expenditure with the hands-free crutch (Canter et al., 2023).

Because mobility during recovery isn’t just about getting from A to B.

It’s about being able to LIVE while you get there.

Better than crutches. Better than scooters. Hands-free with iWALK.

Always follow your healthcare provider’s activity and weight-bearing instructions.
