The vacant lot at 402 Atlantic Ave. in Downtown Long Beach could look very different. Currently used as a parking lot, the former Mobil gas station site could be home to a seven-story, 82-unit apartment complex.
Refreshingly, the design is a step away from the many redundant, boring buildings that have made their way across the city.

Slao—the pop-up gastro-molecular steakhouse that first premiered earlier this year at Partake Collective in Downtown Long Beach—is back.
After previously collaborating with Chef Maxwell Pfeiffer, the man currently heading Sky Room at the Fairmont Breakers, on that earlier iteration of Slao, Domingo is now stepping out on his own, bringing some of the most wildly inventive dishes to grace Long Beach tabletops.

And with it, owner Laurie Porter and kitchen head Chef Jeff Lustre hope that the neighborhood and surrounding city will come out to one of Cal Heights’s most unique dining and drinking spaces.

Bixby Provisions is bringing back pre-pandemic vibes with its gastropubby inaugural menu. Having opened just a few weeks ago, owner Björn Risse wants one thing: For folks to come in and explore the menu.
Spanning an international-fusion, gastropub-style menu—blood orange and beet salads and lobster mac’n’cheese sit next to tacos and spring rolls—the space is meant to feel lived in. And, most importantly, Bixby Provisions is for the neighborhood.

One of Baja California’s most celebrated taco institutions, the Michelin-recognized Tacos El Franc, is bringing a taste of Tijuana to the Los Angeles waterfront before officially opening its newest SoCal outpost at San Pedro’s West Harbor development.
