The Bonhoeffer Project

HEY SOCAL! Join us for a night of vision, stories of renewal, and dinner with a view!

You're invited to a special dinner where Brandon Bathauer and the TBP Leadership Team will pull back the curtain on the work happening worldwide, share stories of local transformation, and lay out where this mission needs help and prayer for the road ahead.

Whether you've been part of The Bonhoeffer Project for years or are just hearing about us, we'd love to gather kingdom-minded leaders, pastors, patrons, thinkers, strategists, kingdom workers, and friends (mostly friends) to talk through what we do, and how you could be part of this renewal work, locally and abroad.

Can't wait to see you there & bring a friend (or 2).

The journey begins.

This week, two Southern California cohorts gathered for the first time...pastors and ministry leaders stepping into a year-long adventure of rediscovering Jesus together.

Not in a classroom. In community.

Over the next ten months, they'll dive deep into the Kingdom Gospel Jesus preached, learn from His model of making disciples, and craft customized plans for their own contexts to develop a disciple-making culture. They'll wrestle with Scripture, pray together, and join a growing network of 1,000+ leaders committed to the same mission.

This is Bonhoeffer's Grand Experiment continuing in our time—leaders gathering in community, amidst tumultuous seasons, to learn what it means to follow Jesus and lead others to do the same.

We're convinced that renewal in the church doesn't come from the next program or strategy. It comes from leaders who've rediscovered Jesus and His way—and are committed to the message and mission of Jesus (see Matthew 28:18-21).

These leaders are saying yes to that call.

And we get to watch what God does when these leaders of leaders commit to a year of transformation together.

Something beautiful just began in Southern California.

The Great Dechurching doesn't have to be the end of the story.

What if 40 million people walking away is actually a painful prologue to something better—a Great Re-Commissioning?

In Part 2 of this series, Brandon Bathauer argues that the Western church has been optimizing for the wrong target. Jesus didn't commission us to make converts or church attendees—he commissioned us to make disciples.

What would it look like to return to Jesus' actual plan? To empower every believer—not just pastors—to make disciples? To raise our sails while the Spirit is stirring?
"For God's sake, let's do something brave."

We’re living through a massive shift in faith in America. Like… historic level.

And it’s not centrally because culture is “too far gone.” It’s because the gospel got reduced to a transaction instead of a whole new life. What do we do about it?

This is an invitation and a wake-up call — but also an opportunity for something better.

The future of the church = communities built around actually following Jesus.
