Big Annie's Big Transformation! π΄π
Since joining our herd in 2022, Big Annie has been our gentle giant, she is a Belgian Draft with a big exterior and an even bigger heart. But moving used to be exhausting and painful for her, a lasting effect of her days as a plow horse.
Over the last year, our team built her a specialized diet and exercise plan, including hill work to strengthen her muscles and joints. The result? A whole new Annie! She is more energetic, more playful, with animated gaits and trots that used to be rare for her. She runs through the pasture with her friends and soaks up Barn Buddy time which includes grooming, massages, and braids. π
Here's to many more happy, healthy years, Annie!

Every rider's journey is unique, and every milestone deserves to be celebrated!
On National Disability Independence Day, we're reflecting on some of the everyday moments that help build confidence and independence at CTRC.
Slide 1: Every lesson begins with getting in the saddle. With the support of our volunteers, instructors, and horses, riders take the first step toward a new opportunity to learn and grow.π
Slide 2: Sometimes a milestone is as simple as raising both hands. Moments like these build confidence, balance, and trust in what each rider is capable of. ππ
Slide 3: Mounting the horse independently is always a milestone worth celebrating! It's a reminder that progress is built one lesson, one goal, and one achievement at a time.πͺ
Slide 4: Every lesson ends with another step forward. Progress looks different for every rider, and every achievement, big or small, deserves to be celebrated.π±π
Today, we're celebrating our riders and the unique paths they take toward greater confidence, independence, and possibility. Thank you to our volunteers, instructors, staff, families, donors, and incredible therapy horses for helping make each of these moments possible.

Happy International Self-Care Day! π΄
Fun fact: Studies have found that spending time with horses can help lower cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone.
At CTRC, we see every day how time in the barn creates moments of confidence, connection, and care. Self-care looks different for everyone, and for many of our riders, it begins with the unique bond they share with a horse.
Wishing everyone a day filled with moments that help you recharge. π
