🎨 Meet Picasso! 🐴

Every artist needs a muse... and Picasso is hoping to find his. 💙

Picasso is a 19-year-old handsome retired lesson horse looking for his forever home as a companion horse and beloved pasture pal. After years of making people smile, he’s ready to enjoy the good life with someone who will spoil him with scratches, grooming sessions, and leisurely walks.

This gentle gelding is easy to catch, kind to handle, and loves meeting new people. He gets along well with other horses, has wonderful ground manners, stands politely for grooming, bathing, and hoof care, and enjoys hand walks, liberty, groundwork, and other enrichment. If there’s grass involved, he’s definitely interested! 😋✨

Due to age-related arthritis, Picasso has retired from riding, but he still has so much love to give. He’s looking for a home where he can simply be someone’s best friend and enjoy life one peaceful day at a time.

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY JUNIPER! 💗✨🪩

One year ago, one of the sweetest surprises arrived at Colorado Horse Rescue.

After being rescued from a livestock auction, Eloise came to us frightened, unsure, and struggling to trust people. Through patience, kindness, and the unwavering dedication of Grace, our Adoption Manager, she slowly learned that people could be safe. Somewhere along the way, Grace fell in love with Eloise, and Eloise found the confidence to trust again. 🥹🤍

Then came an unexpected gift. 🍼

A couple months after Eloise arrived, we learned she was expecting. Before we knew it, Juniper made her grand entrance into the world, with our longtime volunteer and supporter, Sandy, there to witness her very first moments. It was love at first sight. 🫶🏻

Today, this mother and daughter are living the life every rescue horse deserves.

Grace adopted Eloise, Sandy adopted Juniper, and together they share a wonderful home filled with love, other miniature horses, and a beautiful track system where they can run, explore obstacles, and simply enjoy being horses. They are absolutely spoiled, just as they should be.

Juniper has grown into a spunky, curious, joyful little mare, and Eloise continues to remind us what can happen when a horse is given the time, patience, and love to heal.

From a frightened mare at auction to a family living happily ever after, their story is proof that rescue changes lives, sometimes in ways we never expect.

Happy 1st Birthday, Juniper. We love you so much. 🤗

🐴COLORADO HORSE OWNERS, have you been affected by the recent wildfires?🔥

CHR’s Colorado Equine Fire Relief Fund is providing financial assistance to help horse owners recover after a wildfire. If you’ve experienced damage or unexpected equine care expenses, support is available.

Eligible expenses include but are not limited to:
🐴 Temporary boarding when property or fencing has been damaged
🌾 Hay and grain
🔨 Fence and shelter repairs
🩺 Veterinary care for fire-related injuries or illnesses

Wildfire recovery doesn’t end when the fire is out. Rebuilding takes time, and no horse owner should have to face it alone.
