Mona Trent and I have been friends since we were born. Maybe even before that.

She is truly one of the most creative, unique, caring and genuine people I have the pleasure of knowing. And on top of all that, she’s this incredible artist!

I don’t even know how to say how much these paintings mean to me. I’m so proud of them.

Being able to see Merilla come to life through her eyes feels crazy special to me. I’m just so thankful for her, for these paintings, and for the friendship we have.

We’ve been keeping a little secret, and we’re finally ready to share it.

Meet Casa Merilla, our cabin in Jasper, Arkansas, near the Buffalo National River.

The Buffalo River and Jasper area have held a special place in our hearts for decades. We’ve made countless memories there hiking, floating, exploring, slowing down and simply enjoying one of the most beautiful places we know. About a year ago, we were fortunate enough to make a little piece of it our own.

The name Casa Merilla means more to us than simply putting our business name on a cabin.

Merilla is the embodiment of opposites learning to love each other.

Beast and babe. Chaos and calm. Mystery and comfort.

It represents two very different people building a life together and creating a place where others can feel welcome, comfortable and completely at ease. Casa Merilla is not there to rescue you from your life. She is there to remind you that you are already enough. Sometimes you just need a quiet place to slow down long enough to remember it.

Although we have never announced it publicly, Casa Merilla has quietly been welcoming guests for the past year. Thanks entirely to those wonderful guests, we are incredibly proud and humbled to have earned a perfect 5 star rating, Airbnb Superhost status and Guest Favorite recognition.

We do not take any of it for granted. Every person who has stayed, cared for the cabin and taken the time to leave a kind review has helped make this little dream possible. We are truly grateful.

Casa Merilla sits on two peaceful, secluded acres just outside Jasper and close to everything we have loved about this area for so many years. The Buffalo National River, incredible hiking, mountain views, wildlife and the kind of quiet that makes you breathe a little deeper.

We are so excited to finally introduce Casa Merilla to all of you.
