The first day of autumn is a good reminder that every season has something worth noticing. The mornings grow cooler, the leaves begin to turn, and life in starts to settle into a different rhythm.

Fall has always been a season for getting back to routines; walking a little more, cooking at home, checking in on neighbors, and making time for the people we care about. Those small routines can do a great deal for our health and peace of mind. I hope you enjoy the changing season and find a little time this week to get outside and appreciate the beauty we are blessed with here in Southwest Washington - Happy Autumn!

You don't have a "Medicare file" that needs updating. If you get a call saying your Medicare file needs to be updated, hang up. Medicare isn’t asking for this; it’s a scam. If you did confirm or give out your Medicare number, report it to the SMP.

Today is Senior Citizens Day! I’ve had the privilege of working with seniors in Longview and across SW Washington since 1973, helping them sort through Medicare, supplements, Advantage plans, and long‑term coverage.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, a timely reminder that staying well takes more than one good habit. Walking, biking, eating well, and keeping up with recommended preventive care can all play a part.

It is worth asking your doctor or pharmacist which vaccines may be appropriate for your age and health needs. Washington State is observing the month as a reminder that immunizations help protect people of all ages from vaccine-preventable illnesses.
