We love our community & the people that live in it. Our goal is to walk beside groups & organizations that serve the people in Cowlitz County.

We are on hiatus until we have a new board of directors. If you want to join us contact us. We would love to tell others about your community event. Please email our Executive Director, Summer D Clemenson at [email protected] to see how we can help you get the word out about your event.

Lord Jesus, I know You know I just took a call from a woman looking for housing for a s*x offender. I don't know what level of s*x offender this person is that she is calling for, I don't ask those kinds of questions. I don't know any circumstances, other than we do not offer services for these humans in Cowlitz County. I understand the fear that our community has for s*x offenders. I have compassion for the victims. I know that some hurts might never fully go away. But I also know that all people are made in Your image. I know You love all of us. I also know that if we do not provide housing for these people, they will end up on the street, and probably without a job, unless they have special knowledge or education, and then they will have no protection and will have a harder time following through with any training or rehabilitation they went through while they were incarcerated.

Lord, I lift up this woman to you who is faithfully trying to find housing for this other person. I know she is doing a frustrating and thankless job for someone she probably loves but can't have in her home, for whatever reason. Please bless her and guide her. I ask You to guide her friend as well so that they are successful in not reoffending and hurting any new victims. I ask for salvation for them, if they don't know Your love and mercy which is greater than anything I have ever experienced. Thank you for all the blessings and miracles You have for these people. I say Yes and Amen to ALL You are doing today. Thank You for Your grace.

Psalm 30:11-12

Maybe I’m being ignorantly optimistic.
Maybe just wishful thinking.

But lately I’ve found myself wondering if the fever is finally starting to break.

Not the fever of one party losing.
Not the fever of another side winning.

The fever of treating our neighbors like enemies.

Maybe more of us are simply saying:

I’m done living like this.

Done with every disagreement becoming a cage match.

Done being told that half the country is evil.

Done letting politicians, pundits, preachers, and algorithms convince us that contempt is a virtue.

Because once you get beyond the culture wars, most of us want remarkably similar things.

Republican or Democrat, we buy gas and groceries in the same economy.

Left or right, we want our families safe.

We want enough money to breathe.
We want to love and be loved.
We want freedom.
We want a little happiness.

And yes, most of us want powerful predators held accountable — regardless of their wealth, last name, political jersey, or who they know.

Some of the people dearest to me are different from me in politics, culture, s*xual orientation, beliefs, theology, opinions, and pronouns.

And where we actually disagree, some of them think I’m wrong about things.

I return the favor.

And yet — I love them.

Our differences are real.
Sometimes they matter deeply.

But they are not the most important thing about us.

Jesus never told me to win every argument or conquer every institution.

He told me to love my neighbor.
Love my enemy.
Be merciful.
Make peace.

And Scripture puts it this way:

“Look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” — Philippians 2:4

That feels far more like Jesus than any version of Christianity that needs power, enemies, or government enforcement to prove itself.

Maybe the fever breaks when we stop asking,

“How do people like me win?”

and start asking,

“How do all of us become neighbors again?”

Maybe being neighbors is the win.
