We are looking for anyone who may have an old metal trash dumpster they would be willing to get rid of. Preferably, we are looking for a medium- to large-size dumpster that is no longer being used.

It does not have to be pretty or in perfect condition.

Estes Parkway at Huntsman Way, near Walmart, is currently shut down in both the northbound and southbound directions due to a train stopped across the roadway.

Motorists should expect significant delays and plan an alternate route for the evening commute.

Please use caution in the area and allow extra travel time.

FIRE UPDATE – FM 1249 / STATE HIGHWAY 322

We are aware of smoke still visible in the area of FM 1249 and State Highway 322 from a previous fire.

As shown below, our crews have walked and inspected the fire line multiple times, and the fire remains well contained within the established fire line. Stumps, logs, and other heavy fuels within the already burned area will continue to smolder and burn for several days, which may produce visible smoke and occasional flames.

Our crews will continue to monitor the area and check the fire periodically to ensure it remains contained.

At this time, please do not call 911 solely to report smoke from this fire. The fire is contained, and we are aware of the ongoing smoke.

If you observe fire outside the established burned area, a new threat to a structure, or another immediate emergency, please call 911.

The road way is back open and the fire is out as of 1345hours.

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT – FM 1249 ⚠️

All traffic on FM 1249 is currently shut down approximately ¼ mile from State Highway 322 while emergency crews work a vehicle fire that has spread into the surrounding woods.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route to allow emergency personnel and apparatus to operate safely.

We will provide an update when the roadway is reopened.

🔥 FIRE UPDATE – LAKEPORT

The Elderville Lakeport Fire Department is aware of the large fire burning behind Spring Market near the intersection of State Highway 322 and State Highway 149 in Lakeport.

The fire originated from an illegal burn and spread into an adjoining property. Due to poor land management in the area the fire spread into, including a significant accumulation of vegetation, deadfall, and other heavy fuels, this fire will continue to actively burn and produce smoke for several days. Based on current conditions, we anticipate 5–7 days of continued burning and visible smoke before the remaining fuel is consumed.

At this time, the fire is well contained behind an established fire line and poses no threat to the public, nearby homes, or other structures.

Elderville Lakeport Fire Department personnel will check the fire several times throughout each day until it is completely out. If you see smoke or flames coming from this area over the next several days, we are aware of it and are actively monitoring the situation.

Unless conditions change or the fire escapes the established containment line, please do not call 911 or emergency dispatch simply to report smoke or visible flames from this location.

Please avoid the area and allow emergency personnel and apparatus clear access to the scene.

Residents in and around Lakeport should expect to see and smell smoke for an extended period of time as crews continue fire suppression and overhaul operations.
