Longview Economic Development Corp (LEDCO)

Eastman’s presence in Longview dates back to 1949. Today, the site produces over 40 different products used in automobile interiors, food preservatives, cosmetics, toys, paint and personal care items. Eastman currently has around 1,400 employees at its Longview location. The plant is like a small city with its own wastewater treatment plant, landfill, fire department, medical department, cafeteria, park, and nature center (with an observation beehive).

Eastman has continued to be a valued corporate partner for Longview and the surrounding region for nearly eight decades and LEDCO is grateful for the many wonderful things they do for our community.

Our team was glad to attend Mentoring Alliance’s event in Longview yesterday and celebrate their mission of connecting young people with mentors who can help them thrive.

With one of our own serving on the Mentoring Alliance advisory committee, we’re especially excited to support their work as they continue developing their Longview program.

The third and final announcement that came from August’s board meeting was an incentive offer for Quanta Services, supporting the company's planned expansion in Longview which is projected to bring $75 million in capital investment over the next three years.

Projects like this help fuel economic momentum by creating high-quality jobs, generating new capital investment and strengthening Longview's position as a competitive location for business growth.

The second announcement to come from August’s board meeting was an incentive agreement with Robroy Industries, supporting the company's expansion into Longview as it continues growing its operations across East Texas to better serve its customers.

While Robroy Industries is already a well-respected manufacturer within the region, this project marks an exciting new chapter by establishing a presence in Longview.

Projects like this strengthen our regional manufacturing economy, create quality jobs and reinforce Longview's role as a strategic location for companies looking to grow.

Yesterday was a historic day for Longview.

The LEDCO Board of Directors approved three economic development projects that will strengthen our local economy and create new opportunities for our community. Together with two projects approved earlier this fiscal year, we've reached a milestone we've never achieved before—five approved projects in a single fiscal year.

Here's what that means for Longview:
✅ $323 million in capital investment
✅ 328 new full-time jobs
✅ 147 existing jobs retained

Yesterday's approved projects represent new investment from Robroy Industries, Quanta Services, and WPC Services.

Behind every project are families, careers and opportunities that strengthen our community for years to come. We're grateful to our Board of Directors, our city and community partners and the companies that continue to invest in Longview's future.

We’ve spent the last two days in South Padre, Texas at the Team Texas Consultant Summit connecting with site selectors from across the country.

This event has provided valuable opportunity to learn firsthand what site selectors look for when helping companies choose their next location. By asking thoughtful questions about their decision-making process, the information they need, and how communities can better position themselves for success, we can use their insights to refine the way we promote Longview and ensure we're meeting the needs of the companies and consultants we hope to serve.

Thank you to Team Texas for hosting events such as this one that help us in our mission to diversify and expand the economy of Longview. The sea turtles were just the cherry on top!
