If you've been to Kentucky Opera, chances are you've interacted with this fine fellow.

As our patron services representative, Martin French is the voice or face many people meet first at Kentucky Opera. He has been living in the Louisville area for over 15 years now, coming originally from Ireland. Having spent his adult life in theatre, he does a good deal of it these days directing for The Chamber Theatre and for SoIN To Shakespeare, where he is currently planning a production of King Lear. He is an advocate and Board Member with Actors Theatre of Louisville. He frequently dips into alternative lives as a soccer coach, a scholar of all things James Joyce, a dialect coach, and a global traveler. As a lifelong lover of word play, he is not to be punderestimated. He lives in New Albany with his wife, son, and 2.4 cats.

Emily Vergason is a crucial part of our Advancement Team here at KO! Learn more about her below.

Emily Vergason earned her Bachelors of Science in Theatre Arts from the University of Louisville in 2018. Since graduating college Emily has worked for several local arts non-profits before landing here at KY Opera. As a singer and an actor she spends her free time performing Shakespeare with SoIn to Shakespeare or dancing and singing in musicals with other local community theatre companies.

Join us on September 12 for Costume Couture: Fête de Josette as we celebrate the incredible Josette Miles and her 90th birthday. For more than 40 years, Josette's craftsmanship has helped bring Kentucky Opera productions to life, and this special evening honors her extraordinary legacy.

Next up: Sarah Bushman, Director of Advancement, at Kentucky Opera!

Sarah Bushman is Director of Advancement at Kentucky Opera, leading fundraising and marketing initiatives. A mezzo-soprano by training, Bushman began her development career at Lyric Opera of Chicago before moving into international development, where she most recently led a $12 million portfolio at IREX, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit. Her work supported freedom of expression, independent media, and creative communities around the world. An experienced program manager and cross-cultural facilitator, Bushman served in the Peace Corps in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and speaks Spanish and French. She has an MA in International Development from The George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs and a BA in Vocal Performance from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. Her Kentucky claim is that she attended middle-school in Christian Country while her dad was stationed at Fort Campbell!
