4:41 PM CDT 09/20/2026 Radar Update - Our first little blip of a shower for today has popped up on radar over southern Cochran County! Activity will be moving towards the east as it develops this evening.

09/20/2026 - I hope everyone is off to a good Sunday afternoon! We will see a few more showers and storms around the region today, but coverage looks to be much less widespread, with only about 20%-30% of the entire 30-County Forecast Area expected to see measurable rainfall. A few severe storms will be possible over the Rolling Plains, indicated by the dark green region on the map. Here, a level 1/5 marginal risk of severe storms is in play today. The greatest concern will be for damaging wind gusts upwards of 70 MPH and hail up to quarter sized (1.00” in diameter). Timing will be from 5 PM through Midnight.

6:54 PM CDT 09/19/2026 - A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of Lubbock, Crosby, Floyd and Hale counties until 7:30 PM for the possibility of 60 MPH wind gusts and penny sized hail (0.75” in diameter). Movement is E @ 25 MPH!

6:35 PM CDT 09/19/2026 - Two separate storms will impact the metro area over the next hour! Some 40-50 MPH wind gusts, pea sized hail, and locally heavy rainfall is what you can expect at times!

5:35 PM CDT 09/19/2026 - A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of Briscoe, Floyd, Hale and Swisher counties until 6:15 PM for the possibility of 60 MPH wind gusts and penny sized hail (0.75” in diameter). Movement is NE @ 25 MPH.

5:07 PM CDT 09/19/2026 - A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of Hockley and Lubbock counties until 6:00 PM for the possibility of 60 MPH wind gusts and quarter sized hail (1.00” in diameter). Movement is NE @ 20 MPH.

4:21 PM CDT 09/19/2026 - The Weather Prediction Center has highlighted portions of the forecast area for an increased concern of flash flooding over the course of our evening and early overnight hours. As much as 2-3” of rainfall will fall underneath the strongest storms, with most of that rain occurring within a 90 minute window. Be sure to avoid flooded areas!

4:13 PM CDT 09/19/2026 - A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for portions of Cochran County until 6:15 PM. Upwards of 2” of rain has fallen in this area, with an additional 1-2” likely. Be sure to avoid flooded areas, and remember to !

4:00 PM CDT 09/19/2026 - A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of Cochran County until 5:00 PM for the possibility of 60 MPH wind gusts and quarter sized hail (1.00” in diameter). Movement is NE @ 15 MPH.
