An LDS Viewpoint

I thank God I lived long enough to see this day.
I was born a year after Israel became a modern nation.
In the decades that followed, no one - from any nation - was able to bring peace to the Middle East. That included 13 U.S. presidents: Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Jimmy Carter (who deserves credit for seriously trying), Reagan, GHW Bush, Clinton, GW Bush, Obama, and Biden.
But President Trump broke through all of that history and brought peace to the Middle East in three major steps:
(1) The Abraham Accords aligned the Arab nations with a new vision for the region based on prosperity, rather than war.
(2) The devastation of Iraq's nuclear program weakened Iraq and crushed their ability to support anti-Israel terrorists.
(3) His unwavering support of Israel's right to exist and defend themselves, despite political controversy at home and abroad, made Hamas' defeat certain.
For the first time in my life I have hope that the endless hostility between Israel and their neighbors will be replaced by a mutually beneficial system of trade and prosperity.
I don't doubt for a minute that God is very much involved in the changed hearts and minds that brought this about.
Thank God for his tender mercies.
