Ivy Test Prep

If your child is strong in math, this is worth knowing about.

The AMC — American Mathematics Competition — is a national math competition held every November. There are three levels:

AMC 8 for grades 6–8
AMC 10 for grades 9–10
AMC 12 for grades 11–12

It tests the kind of math that doesn't show up on a regular test — pattern recognition, creative problem-solving, reasoning under time pressure. Admissions offices at selective colleges know exactly what a strong AMC score means.

Most families in Bergen County only hear about it through word of mouth, and often too late to prepare. Targeted practice changes the outcome here — these problems have structure, and the skills are teachable.

Four weeks to November 1. Here's the plan.

If your student is applying Early Decision or Early Action, the next four weeks are when the personal statement, the supplements, the recommendation letters, and the transcripts all need to come together.

That sounds overwhelming — but it's manageable when you break it into weekly goals.

We put together a printable 4-week checklist that maps out what to tackle each week, with parent tips at every stage:

✅ Week 1 — Finalize the school list and confirm every deadline ✅ Week 2 — Draft the personal statement ✅ Week 3 — Tackle supplements, one per day ✅ Week 4 — Revise, proofread, and submit early

Comment "ESSAY" or message us, and we'll send it to you.

If your student needs hands-on essay help, our Essay Boot Camp ($699, small group, 6 hours) and 1-on-1 essay coaching are built for exactly this window. Every program starts with a free consultation.

That's the score report one of our students just received. We're sharing it because it shows what focused, personal prep looks like in practice:

✅ It starts with a full-length diagnostic, so the plan targets real gaps ✅ The plan is built for one student, not a whole class ✅ Homework is assigned and checked every week

Every plan we build starts the same way: by finding out where your student stands today. Our next free, full-length SAT practice test is Saturday, October 10. Register today.

📌 Comment SCORE for our free Digital SAT Score Guide and registration link. It covers what each section score means and how to set a target that fits your student's college list.

Before you hit submit: 5 things to double-check on the BCA/BT application.

The BCA/BT application can't be revised once it's submitted, so a few minutes of checking goes a long way. These are the details that most often send an application back:

✅ A personal email for every applicant (no school or business accounts; siblings need their own)
✅ Teacher and counselor emails spelled exactly — the system invites them automatically
✅ Proof of residency: a gas, electric, or water bill only, dated Sep–Nov 2026, as one PDF
✅ A student photo with the student's name visible
✅ A birth certificate showing name and date of birth

Applications close Sunday, November 8. We're hosting a free BCA/BT Application Help Webinar on Saturday, October 3 — 6 PM in English and 7 PM in Turkish, online — to walk families through each step.

Comment "SUBMIT" and we'll send our free Before You Submit Family Guide with registration link.
