Welcome Home, Netche “Stickball Player”, Bicentennial Park's newest figure, sticks raised and facing west. 💚

Over the weekend, during the Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration, he was revealed at the park. Netche is inspired by Netche Gray, a Muscogee World War I veteran and respected culture bearer known for his skill as a stickball player. The tiger tail on his back marks that honor, one that had to be earned, not chosen.

Sculptor Kenneth Johnson spent months researching traditional stickball dress and symbolism to bring every detail to life. He now stands beside "ECKE—Mother Ground," the two pieces together telling a story of Muscogee heritage, homeland and homecoming. 💛
