Yesterday was an odd day. It was my husband’s birthday. An earthquake near him scared us both. It was 9/11. The day had some other highs and lows, and one of the lows was the loss of Joseph Conti-Wilford.
Joey came into my orbit through the nightlife scene and was a steady presence in Ravyn, either as a promoter, an occasional entertainer, or an extra hand behind the scenes. Most notably as the husband of Trina Avalon-Pirahna and a member of the House of Avalon. Joey later found other success with the Real Drag Husbands, WI USofA, and as a promoter for All American Goddess Pageantry, eventually becoming part of Dena Cass’ family.
To be transparent, he and I had a falling out a few years back, but we talked it out, and Joey and I resumed a familial connection again, and he helped Josh B and me run the social media for Ravyn as our other ventures and lives grew busier.
On the 10th, I was looking through old Ravyn photos and pulled out the photo I used of his house mother, Danielle Avalon, when she passed. I remembered how much I missed her, and I thought of the convo Joey and I had about her passing. Now here I am, a day later, thinking about his passing, and it doesn’t seem logical that both these individuals aren’t with us anymore.
Josh and I are thinking of Joey’s husband, Christopher, and his friends and family. You all knew him so much better, and his loss will not be an easy cross to bear. I won’t offer any quick platitudes or imagine your loss, for I’m sure there wouldn’t be enough words to describe what you feel.
Losing a member of this group is never easy, but it just highlights that we need to check in with each other and tell the people in our lives how much they mean to us. Past and present.
I’m going to miss his “Hey Papa” messages he sent every once in a while, and the world is going to miss a loving husband, a dear friend, a good son, and someone who would show you undying amounts of love.
If the universe is kind, Joey, I hope you find peace and know we are all thinking of you and your loved ones.
As you can imagine, this time has been unexpected for his husband and family, and they need help with funeral expenses. Below is the GoFundMe to raise the money needed. Please donate if you can, but share if you cannot.

Milano Breeze aka Rudy Rosbeck-Ledesma, became part of us when Ravyn entered our final years in the pageant systems in Wisconsin. He performed for us a handful of times, and other times we would always run into him in other places, joking and smiling and talking. He had a good heart and was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He was always an entertainer and a person to call on, and he made it happen when you needed him. Milano could make you feel as if months apart were just days, and as if you'd known him since day one. We’ll miss the good energy and talent he brought wherever he went, and remember a loving soul and a warm spirit.
Our thoughts are with Harmony Breeze this week, Milano’s husband of almost 10 years, and all their friends and family. Rudy was loved, and we will miss him. Buen viaje - Un abrazo hasta el cielo.
