Their mission is to improve people's quality of life starting from the ground up. Quite literally—we're talking about your feet. It's The Good Feet Store, and Jennings Cotten is here. He's a Good Feet Store franchisee.

Jennings, thanks so much for being here with us. For those unfamiliar with The Good Feet Store, can you kind of walk me through what the store does and the experience you're going to have?

Jennings:
Absolutely. Just like you said, our mission is to help our communities live an active and healthy lifestyle, two feet at a time.

We're trying to keep people active, and a lot of times what keeps you from being active is when you run into foot, knee, hip, and back pain. At The Good Feet Store, we're going to start from that foundation. How do we look at that, starting from your feet?

We've come up with a three-step system of arch supports that helps reinforce that foundation, provide the proper support, and realign that entire kinetic chain. That helps alleviate—or even eliminate—some of that pain that's getting in your way of living your best life.

What are those three steps?

Jennings:
The three-step process is made up of a Strengthener, a Maintainer, and a Relaxer.

With the Strengthener, we're trying to get the foot into that ideal foot position. We're trying to maintain that with the Maintainer, and then also relax and stretch with the Relaxer. You can't work out all the time—you've got to do that stretching. You've got to have that dynamic rest.

All three of those work together across your lifestyle and across all your shoe types to make sure you have the right foundation that can support the entire kinetic chain.

Host:
One thing that struck me as something kind of obvious—but something we ignore—is our feet, especially when you're a little bit younger. You kind of associate it with, "Maybe I'll deal with this later in life," but that's not the case.

Jennings:
Absolutely. For my story, it started when I was in my late 20s. I started dealing with pain, and I wanted to put it off, put it off, put it off.
I actually ended up having to see an orthopedic surgeon. We looked at different options. I got a cortisone shot in my hip, but nothing was working.
Honestly, at that point I thought, "It's not that big of a deal. I can just deal with it. I'm not going to do as much running. I'm not going to play golf. I'm not going to do the things I love."

But it was having a big impact on me.

Then I went to The Good Feet Store and found the Good Feet arch supports that really helped realign that kinetic chain and alleviate that pain.
