P&P wears a lot of hats: a farm-to-table café, a weekly meal kit subscription, full-service catering, and their Farm-to-Freezer line of ready-to-heat, locally sourced meals. Whatever the format, the mission stays the same: make real, seasonal, Wisconsin-grown food easy to get on your table.

Behind every dish is a deep commitment to local agriculture. P&P sources directly from Wisconsin farms, builds menus around what's actually in season, and partners with local producers to keep food dollars circulating right here in our community.

That mission just got a second home base: P&P Foodworks, their Production Kitchen & Manufactory at 1902 Wright Street. This wholesale facility is where P&P scales up local food production with a fully equipped co-manufacturing kitchen and vegetable processing line, all while keeping the supply chain rooted close to home.

From the café counter to the Foodworks production line, Pasture and Plenty is proof that local food can be convenient, delicious, and rooted in community.

Drink pairings for the event are curated by Andrea Hillsey, the owner/operator of Square Wine Co - a retail wine shoppe she opened on Madison’s (WI) Capitol Square in 2012. Originally from Michigan, Andrea played softball at Purdue University and then went on to study hospitality at Florida International University. In 2010, she worked harvest at Chehalem Winery.

We believe that building a resilient local food system happens at the table, in the classroom, in the pews, in the field, and everywhere that people gather to share food, stories, and ideas. Our fall events are a reflection of that belief.

Each one is an opportunity to deepen the connections between the farmers, food makers, institutions, and community members who make our local food system possible, and to invite diverse groups of people into the work of building a better food system together. Whether you are coming to taste, to learn, to celebrate, or to plan, you are part of the movement and we hope you join us for one or all of these events.

We're proud to have some incredible organizations as a part of the Farm Fresh Atlas, listing alongside the businesses they serve.

One of these is Family Farm Defenders . Family Farm Defenders does indescribably important advocacy work - driving towards systemic change through education and action with their newsletters (and newsletter archive), their podcast, to their deep-dives on current issues like the Farm Bill - just to name a few!

Their mission is to build a broad grassroots movement to establish a fair, just and resilient agricultural system rooted in food sovereignty, agroecology, peace and international solidarity - which they work towards as a mostly volunteer-run, grassroots organizing group.

Last year's conference brought over 80 farmers, buyers, and support organizations together to learn, network, and brainstorm solutions for increasing local institutional sales. We're thrilled to be hosting the conference again this year, this time based at Wisconsin Farmers Union's Market on River in Chippewa Falls.

We closed out August in style with the final installment of our True Food Summer Dinner Series at La Brioche. With a menu of ingredients that highlighted local and seasonal stars (special shoutout to the Red Cliff Fish Company pizza with fresh w***y street co-op pesto, Alsum Sweet corn, Lovefood tomatoes and Air Joe Farms microgreens!) we hope you enjoyed your pizza as much as our Sardinian chef enjoyed making it.

This pizza dinner rounded out our summer appeal, and brought our summer to a close doing what we do best - celebrating, sharing gratitude, and and uplifting our community.

Being invited by Centro Dane County to assist with Semillas, their new year-round youth program for elementary schoolers, was a highlight of our summer! From knife skills to farm visits, supporting this program is central to REAP’s value of reciprocity - ensuring that we, along with our community, are learning and promoting the abundance of food resources and knowledge around us.

Some of the greatest resources are the people - and visits to Ortega’s Garden and Parisi Family Farm prove that, time and time again. It’s no surprise that each time we take Semillas to a farm, they never want to leave.

Our calendar comes alive in the summer with collaborative events like Parks Alive. When the blender bikes come out of storage and we get to feed our community with the bounty of locally-grown, it's the peak of our mission statement - of what it means for us to be REAP: cultivating connections with our community and showcasing the brilliance of our local food system.

Through five Parks Alive events with the City of Madison this summer we served hundreds of free meals, engaged communities with blender bike hummus (yes! the blenders are that good!), and donated leftover food to area shelters. It feels good to be out with you all.
