💚 A little update from HVO! 💚

We’ve been a little quiet on social media lately, but there’s been a lot happening behind the scenes!

We’re excited to share that our team is growing! We’ve welcomed two amazing new team members—a Certified Veterinary Technician and a Veterinary Assistant—to help us continue providing the thoughtful, personalized care our patients and their families deserve. 🐾

We’re so excited to have them on board and look forward to sharing more about our growing team soon!

Surgery Schedule Update

Beginning next week, Mondays will once again be our dedicated surgery day for the remainder of this year and likely into the beginning of next year.

If your pet needs a dental procedure or surgery, appointments will be scheduled on Mondays.

Because our medical team prioritizes the care and monitoring of surgical patients throughout the day, we will be limiting wellness exams and technician appointments on Mondays whenever possible.

If you have a wellness or technician appointment already scheduled on a Monday, please be aware that there is a small possibility your appointment may need to be rescheduled if a surgery takes longer than expected. If that happens, our team will contact you as soon as possible to find another appointment time that works for you.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we continue providing the best care possible for all of our patients. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a surgery, please give us a call at (608) 432-2522—we're happy to help!

Meet Newton

We recently had the pleasure of seeing Newton for acupuncture treatments, and he quickly became a favorite around the clinic.

Newton currently lives at Latoya's Legacy Sanctuary in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, where he is safe and well cared for while he waits for the right adopter or foster to come along. Much of his story before arriving at the sanctuary remains a mystery. He was brought in by someone who did not know his background, and he was already missing his tail. It is believed that the injury that caused him to lose his tail also resulted in nerve damage, leaving him with urinary dysautonomia and unable to voluntarily urinate. Instead, his bladder empties while he sleeps.

Newton is also FIV positive, but that certainly doesn't slow him down. He is a wonderful eater, loves his wet food, enjoys lounging in a soft bed or cozy hidey hut, and could spend hours bird watching from a sunny windowsill. He uses his scratching post like a pro; he is polydactyl. He is a very good traveler in the car, and most importantly, he is a true lap cat who absolutely loves ear scratches and affection.

We're grateful to be a part of Newton's care through acupuncture treatments and thankful for the dedication of the team at LaToya's Legacy Sanctuary, who continue to go above and beyond for special cats like him and are committed to finding him the right home.

Newton is currently looking for an adopter or foster who can give this sweet boy the love and comfort he deserves. If you've been looking for a gentle companion with a big heart and an even bigger appreciation for lap time and ear scratches, Newton may be your guy.

🐾 Meet Clove! 🐾

We had the pleasure of meeting sweet Clove for her very first visit yesterday! At just 2 months old and weighing in at only 2 pounds, she brought so much personality into the clinic. She was playful, curious, friendly, and an absolute joy to spend time with.

We also have to say—her family must be artists, because this photo is absolutely stunning! And Clove? She's clearly a natural model.

We're so grateful to her family for entrusting us with her care, and we're looking forward to watching Clove grow in the months and years ahead. Welcome to the HVO family, Clove!

Heat Advisory: Keep Your Pets Safe!
With temperatures soaring, it's important to remember that our pets feel the heat too! Even a short time outside can quickly become dangerous.

🌡️ During this heat advisory:
🐾 Limit outdoor activity to the early morning or late evening.
💧 Always provide fresh water and access to shade.
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car—even for a minute.
🐕 Check the pavement with the back of your hand. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws.
❗ Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, or collapse.

We've put together a Hot Weather Safety Tips flyer with more information to help keep your furry family members safe this week.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and give your pets plenty of opportunities to beat the heat!

As we head into the Fourth of July weekend, we wanted to share our holiday schedule:
