A bittersweet day in our hood. After 35 wonderful years, Hong Kong Cafe will serve its last meal tonight. What great friends and neighbors they’ve been to us throughout the years. Wishing Phillip, Terry and crew loads of joy, happiness, and of course, RELAXATION in your retirement. We will truly miss you!

Tonight @ 6:30! Please join us for an intimate live performance of Rachel Loshak, a world class performer originally from England. Now based in New York, Rachel has created six full length LPs (available on Apple Music), has sung onstage at the Grammys, and is cocreator of the production company that brought Gustafer Yellowgold into our world. Her current tour is promoting the release of her new album, Songs to the Sun, a tribute of sorts to her late husband, Morgan Taylor. We are honored that her Madison tour stop Is at Indie. Tonight we will be serving beer and wine. Staying open late, come anytime! A suggested $20 donation will be requested at the counter. Lighting candles at 6:00. Show start time at 6:30.

Starting to like a few things our new neighbors did. What used to be a chain linked, fenced-in parking lot, is now a nice path with grass and trees. Mr. Jensen’s No Parking sign (pic 2), remains on the wall, a little doorway to the past. On pic 3 you can see their crazy temporary fence they put up a year ago. Pic 4 shows the view from our side. Pretty soon, probably next week, we will finally be getting that fence replaced. Stay tuned!

Indie welcomes back local poet Thor Ringler tomorrow (Thursday Feb. 12) at 6:30. Join us for this free poetry reading with a little storytelling mixed in. Thor heads up the VA’s national project, “My Life, My Story.” He’ll be reading some new work.
