A big thank you to Arbor Green for returning as the presenting sponsor of this year's Mad Hatterโ€™s Bingo! ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ’™

Their continued sponsorship helps make this fun-filled evening possible while supporting our Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. CASA trains and supports volunteers who advocate for children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect, ensuring they have a voice in the decisions made about their future and someone looking out for their best interests.

Weโ€™re so grateful to have Arbor Green helping bring this yearโ€™s event to life!

It doesn't always take a big gift to make a big impact.

Our Amazon Wish List includes everyday items that help Canopy Center run - from office and cleaning supplies to snacks, activities, and gift cards. These items help children express themselves, keep our spaces welcoming and provide practical support for families when it's needed most.

When you purchase an item, you're helping us spend less on everyday essentials and more on the services children and families rely on. Thank you! ๐Ÿ’œ

Thanks to a grant from the Joseph Martin Nunn Family Support & Reunification Fund, we're able to support a family served through our CASA of Dane & Columbia Counties program.๐Ÿฉต

This grant will help support a child who was placed with a grandparent after their parents entered treatment. Taking on the responsibility of raising a young child meant reducing work hours and taking on new expenses, putting the grandparent's housing at risk. This funding will help the family remain housed while the child's parents focus on their recovery. ๐Ÿ

We're grateful for the Fund's investment in families working to overcome substance use challenges and create safe, stable homes for their children.

One of the questions we hear on tours is: "What are those old phones for?" and "Do kids even know what those are?" ๐Ÿ“ž

Fair questions! ๐Ÿ˜Š

In this video, Ali, one of our Oasis play therapists, explains why these play phones are more than just toys. They can give children an indirect, less intimidating way to communicate during therapy, with the red phone often representing the more "official" or formal conversations children may associate with adults like doctors, police officers, or store employees.

Watch to learn why something as simple as a toy phone can become a therapeutic tool.

Last week, we celebrated a special milestone as our newest CASA of Dane & Columbia Counties volunteers were officially sworn in as friends of the court and welcomed to the program.

This swearing-in was especially meaningful because it was the first led by Judge Nia Trammell, and was a true full-circle moment. Years before taking the bench, Judge Trammell served as a CASA volunteer right here in Dane County, advocating for children in foster care who experienced abuse and neglect.

After the ceremony, our CASA Case Coordinator, Clara, surprised volunteers with fun take-home crafts and activities they can use to connect with the children they serve.

Congratulations to our newest CASA volunteers! Your advocacy makes a difference! ๐Ÿ’™
