Happy International Red Panda Day!
Did you know that...
🌱 95% of their diet is bamboo?
🌱 Spend 55% of the day sleeping?
🌱 Are solitary animals, except breeding
season.
🌱 Are considered Endangered
🌿 as few as 2,500 animals left
🌿 50% decline in the last 20 years
🌿 habitat loss and fragmentation,
Illegal trade, and exploitation of
forest resources threaten the
population.
🌱 Henry Vilas Zoo is home to a pair of red pandas?! Come see Chiya and Betty in the Green Barn.

Our hearts are broken today as we had to say goodbye to one of our bestest boys, Pelo. He was a great lion and our hearts will be missing a piece forever.
🦧🦧 🦧A little father and daughter play session...until someone sees a camera and then it's all about her! 🦧🦧🦧

Let's meet our final Badger Chapter AAZK officer, Vice President Silverius!!!!
Originally from Alberta, Canada, he has worked at Henry Vilas Zoo as an Educator for 3 years. He found his way to the zoo through the field of interpretation, having worked in the field for nearly a decade at historical sites and political spaces. Silverius can wholeheartedly say the zoo is the most fulfilling of anywhere he had been.
He had really enjoyed being the VP of the Badger AAZK chapter. He says " for a smallish chapter, we make a pretty big impact in our area in some really cool ways."
Outside the zoo you can catch Silverius admiring the stars, reading mythology, and playing roguelites on his SteamDeck!
