Farly’s recovery from FIP took more than medicine. It took time, patience, and the dedicated care of his foster mom, Karrie.

Treatment for FIP is long and intensive. For 12 weeks, Karrie provided the hands-on care Farly needed, with DCHS’s veterinary team supporting her every step of the way. She gave him daily injections and oral medications, and let him snooze in her lap while his body recovered. Slowly, his fever subsided, his appetite returned, and he started playing again. Today, he’s the playful, affectionate cat he was always meant to be, and is thriving in his new home.

Who loves snuggles? Fancy does! Her sweet, friendly, and snuggly personality was on full display during her Pet-Entially Yours segment on News 3 Now / Channel 3000. This 2-month-old pup has moments of shyness, but she quickly warms up to show her wiggly and playful side. Fancy fancies lots of attention, leaning in for pets and kisses and climbing into your lap. She lets her nose lead the way as she explores her surroundings. When she runs around, she has a cute hop in her step.

Fancy was among 25 dogs who arrived last week on a transfer from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. She's looking for a family who will work with her on her puppy manners and building her confidence while also spoiling her with lots of fun adventures, playtime, snuggles, and love.

Lenny, an adult male, is a sweetheart. He’s friendly and loves eating bugs and soaking up the sunshine. He’s looking for a family who will spoil him with bugs and companionship.

Hendrix, an adult female, is looking for a patient family who will give her extra time to feel comfortable with handling and socializing. With gentle interactions and consistency, she can build trust and become a wonderful scaly friend.

Iggy, and adult male, enjoys human companionship and head scratches! He’s not a fan of other reptiles and is looking for a home where he can be the only bearded dragon.

The beardies are staying in warmer areas of the shelter, so stop by our Adoption Center today (9/24) -- we’re open from noon to 7:00 pm – to ask about meeting them!

You may have heard about Leema when she was featured as our Pet of the Week on 105.5 Triple M, but there’s even more to this big-eyed girl than her radio debut. Her foster family says she is an absolute joy and a kitten who loves to keep busy. Her favorite activity? Chasing sparkly balls around the house, often carrying them proudly in her mouth like tiny trophies.

Leema is friendly with people and other animals and would love a playful cat friend who is ready to join in on her adventures. She’s even enjoyed spending time with small dogs. She’s curious about just about everything, too. New people? Interesting. Music? Interesting. Cardboard boxes? Extremely interesting. A cordless vacuum? The newest and greatest cat toy ever invented.

When she’s not investigating the world, Leema enjoys bird-watching from the windowsill, climbing into boxes and occasionally settling in for some cuddles when she decides it’s time.

Those big eyes inspired her name, which reminded her foster family of a lemur. And while Leema is one busy little explorer, she does have a medical need her future family will need to understand. She has a history of seizures that are currently well controlled with medication given twice a day. She may need this medication for life, so adopters will need to be comfortable keeping her on her medication schedule.

Leema is such a special kitten, and her foster family believes she is absolutely worth the little extra care she requires. Now she just needs someone who sees what they see in her.

Looking for a handsome pup with the cutest ears? For this with City Cast Madison, we'd like you to meet Doffer. This sweet, shy 10-pound guy came to DCHS at that end of August after being found as a stray in someone’s backyard. After attempts to find his family were unsuccessful, DCHS is now helping Doffer find a new home. Doffer, an adult, is a little nervous, but once he trusts you, his personality shines. He enjoys playing with toys and does the cutest little play bows. He also loves receiving treats, and he snuggles up to people he trusts, even crawling into their laps. Doffer also likes running around outside. He’s still working on his training, including potty training. Doffer is looking for a very patient family with no kids who will give him the time he needs to become comfortable and build trust while also spoiling him with plenty of fun playtime, treats, and love. Here is how you can help!

How to clean your feeder:
1. Start by washing with hot, soapy water to remove all debris.
2. Create a diluted bleach solution: 1 Tbsp of bleach for each 16 oz of water.
3. Soak for 10 minutes. If spraying down the feeder, keep it wet for the entire 10-minute period.
4. Once disinfected, rinse and dry your feeder before refilling.
