Happy ! A big thank you to the team from CLA (Clifton Larson Allen) for volunteering their time to help out at our shelter earlier this week!
During their Group Volunteer Experience, they toured the shelter, met our classroom critters, helped clean and organize, labeled donations, and tackled a few other projects that help keep things running smoothly.
We're so grateful for groups like CLA that give their time and energy to help make a difference for the animals in our care.

We've got cats. We've got dogs. And yes, we even have a pigeon.
What we're saying is: we've got a variety of animals looking for homes and hoping today is the day they meet their new family.
The pets featured here are just a few of the many available for adoption. Our Adoption Center is open today (6/19) from noon until 7:00 PM, so stop in and see who catches your eye!

As some of us get outdoors more in the summer to explore and have fun, you may come across our wildlife friends. Dane County Humane Society's Wildlife Center shared some tips on helping sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals.
They also chatted about their nature camp, Camp WildSide, and what campers are learning about this summer and some of the activities they're doing that are helping current patients.
'Keep wildlife wild': DCHS Wildlife Center shares tips for coexisting with nature in the summer MADISON (WKOW) โ The Dane County Humane Society's Wildlife Center has been open for over 20 years and has served over 50,000 animals in that time.

For more than 100 years, Dane County Humane Society has been helping people help animals. Today, that impact reaches far beyond our Madison campus.
From supporting other shelters across Wisconsin with critical veterinary care, to helping communities respond to natural disasters, to training the next generation of animal welfare professionals, DCHS is helping shape a more humane future through collaboration, innovation, and partnership.

Ready to play fetch? For this with City Cast Madison, we'd like to introduce you to Ozzy, an expert fetch player looking for a new home. This 67-pound adult was brought to DCHS at the end of May and quickly won over the hearts of staff and volunteers. Ozzy is smart and knows sit, shake, and drop it. He LOVES to play fetch and will actually retrieve the toy and drop it at your feet or on you so you can toss it for him again. Ozzy walks well on leash overall, and he enjoys receiving pets. Ozzy is looking for a family without small children who will spoil him with fun adventures, endless games of fetch, and lots of love. Ready to meet your new fetch partner? Weโre bringing back this series to celebrate the incredible milestones, achievements, and impact we made together at DCHS in 2025.
First up: Humane Education!
Last year, 2,352 children and adults discovered, learned, and connected with animals through our Humane Education programs. Whether it was spending a week at Camp Pawprint, building confidence by reading to a furry friend through Paws & Pages, celebrating a birthday at the shelter, exploring the shelter on a field trip, or making a difference through a Service Day, scout workshop, or After Dark event, every program helped strengthen the bond between people and animals.
๐พ 11 weeks of Camp Pawprint
๐พ 9 Day Camps
๐พ 3 Adult Camp Pawprint sessions
๐พ 295 Paws & Pages reading sessions
๐พ 53 birthday parties
๐พ 20 scout workshops
๐พ 40 shelter field trips, presentations, and tours
๐พ 11 Service Days
๐พ 8 After Dark events
